And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him,[ Nay], but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.

你们今日却厌弃了救你们脱离一切灾难的神，说：‘求你立一个王治理我们。’现在你们应当按着支派、宗族都站在耶和华面前。”

今天你们却厌弃你们的神，就是使你们脱离一切灾祸和患难的拯救者；你们对他说：‘求你立一个王统治我们。’现在，你们要按着自己的支派和宗族，站在耶和华面前。”

今天你們卻厭棄你們的神，就是使你們脫離一切災禍和患難的拯救者；你們對他說：『求你立一個王統治我們。』現在，你們要按著自己的支派和宗族，站在耶和華面前。」

爾之上帝、救爾出諸災禍艱苦者、爾今日棄之、謂曰、立王治我、今當循爾支派億兆、進於耶和華前、

爾之上帝、救爾出諸患難艱苦者、爾遺棄之、求立一王、今日爾當至此、循爾支派億兆、立於耶和華前。

爾之天主、救爾於諸患難艱苦者、爾曹竟棄之、曰、求爾立一王治理我、今當至此、循爾支派宗族、立於主前、

But you have now rejected your God, who saves you out of all your disasters and calamities. And you have said,‘ No, appoint a king over us.’ So now present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and clans.”

But now you have turned your backs on your God. He saves you out of all your trouble and suffering. In spite of that, you have said,‘ We refuse to listen. Place a king over us.’ So now gather together to meet with the Lord. Do it tribe by tribe and family group by family group.”

But today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all your calamities and your distresses, and you have said to him,‘ Set a king over us.’ Now therefore present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and by your thousands.”

But though I have rescued you from your misery and distress, you have rejected your God today and have said,‘ No, we want a king instead!’ Now, therefore, present yourselves before the Lord by tribes and clans.”

But today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all your troubles and afflictions. You said to him,‘ You must set a king over us.’ Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and clans.”

And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the LORD your God[ was] your king.

And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;

In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be,[ that] the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families[ thereof]; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.And it shall be,[ that] he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide[ it] not from me.And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they[ are] hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold,[ it was] hid in his tent, and the silver under it.And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.

But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah,[ though] thou be little among the thousands of Judah,[ yet] out of thee shall he come forth unto me[ that is] to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth[ have been] from of old, from everlasting.

[ Is it] not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness[ is] great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.So Samuel called unto the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the LORD thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins[ this] evil, to ask us a king.

Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of[ their] fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod.
