For the one who wants to love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from uttering deceit.

故曰、凡欲愛生而見佳日者、宜禁其舌於惡、其口於譎、

凡欲得生而有福、當捫舌勿言惡、緘口勿詭譎、

經載云、凡欲得生而平康度日者、則當捫舌勿言惡、守口無詭詐、

聖詠有之、『人欲善其生、長度康樂日：守舌毋惡言、緘口絕詭譎；

For,“ Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.

Scripture says,“ Suppose someone wants to love life and see good days. Then they must keep their tongues from speaking evil. They must keep their lips from telling lies.

For“ Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit;

For the Scriptures say,“ If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.

For the one who wants to love life and to see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit,

For,“ The one who desires life, to love and see good days, Must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.

For“ He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.

Do you want to really live? Would you love to live a long, happy life?Then make sure you don’t speak evil words or use deceptive speech!Turn away from evil and do what is right! Strive for peace and promote it!The LORD pays attention to the godly and hears their cry for help.But the LORD opposes evildoers and wipes out all memory of them from the earth.

If someone thinks he is religious yet does not bridle his tongue, and so deceives his heart, his religion is futile.

He committed no sin nor was deceit found in his mouth.

So get rid of all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.

and no lie was found on their lips; they are blameless.

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and exclaimed,“ Look, a true Israelite in whom there is no deceit!”

For the one who finds me finds life and receives favor from the LORD.

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers and sisters, because you know that we will be judged more strictly.For we all stumble in many ways. If someone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect individual, able to control the entire body as well.And if we put bits into the mouths of horses to get them to obey us, then we guide their entire bodies.Look at ships too: Though they are so large and driven by harsh winds, they are steered by a tiny rudder wherever the pilot’s inclination directs.So too the tongue is a small part of the body, yet it has great pretensions. Think how small a flame sets a huge forest ablaze.And the tongue is a fire! The tongue represents the world of wrongdoing among the parts of our bodies. It pollutes the entire body and sets fire to the course of human existence– and is set on fire by hell.For every kind of animal, bird, reptile, and sea creature is subdued and has been subdued by humankind.But no human being can subdue the tongue; it is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse people made in God’s image.From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. These things should not be so, my brothers and sisters.

for they will provide a long and full life, and they will add well-being to you.

for they are life to those who find them and healing to one’s entire body.

She is like a tree of life to those who obtain her, and everyone who grasps hold of her will be blessed.

But Satan answered the LORD,“ Skin for skin! Indeed, a man will give up all that he has to save his life!

He said to him,“ Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

“ But your eyes are blessed because they see, and your ears because they hear.For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

I thought deeply about the effects of indulging myself with wine( all the while my mind was guiding me with wisdom) and the effects of behaving foolishly, so that I might discover what is profitable for people to do on earth during the few days of their lives.

He redeemed my life from going down to the place of corruption, and my life sees the light!’

so I may see the prosperity of your chosen ones, rejoice along with your nation, and boast along with the people who belong to you.

For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and for the gospel will save it.

But he will join his ancestors; they will never again see the light of day.

Remember that my life is but a breath, that my eyes will never again see happiness.The eye of him who sees me now will see me no more; your eyes will look for me, but I will be gone.

For this is no idle word for you– it is your life! By this word you will live a long time in the land you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.”

Where would I be if I did not believe I would experience the LORD’s favor in the land of the living?

“ My days are swifter than a runner, they speed by without seeing happiness.

The one who loves his life destroys it, and the one who hates his life in this world guards it for eternal life.
