“ Praise be to the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses.

“ I praise the Lord. He has given peace and rest to his people Israel. That’s exactly what he promised to do. He gave his people good promises through his servant Moses. Every single word of those promises has come true.

“ Blessed be the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised. Not one word has failed of all his good promise, which he spoke by Moses his servant.

“ Praise the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises he gave through his servant Moses.

“ Blessed be the LORD! He has given rest to his people Israel according to all he has said. Not one of all the good promises he made through his servant Moses has failed.

撒母耳渐渐长大，耶和华与他同在，没有让他的任何一句话落空。

天和地将要消逝，但是我的话绝不会消逝。

向我们的祖先施怜悯，不忘他神圣的约，就是向我们的先祖亚伯拉罕所起的誓，

他扶助他的仆人以色列，不忘怜悯，正如他对我们祖先，对亚伯拉罕和他的后裔所说的，直到永远。”

其实，我们这些相信的才能进入那安息，正如神所说：“所以我在自己的震怒中起誓：‘他们绝不能进入我的安息。’”事实上，神的工作从创世以来，就已经完成了。原来关于第七日，他在经上某处这样说：“神在第七日，歇了他所有的工作。”在这里他又说：“他们绝不能进入我的安息。”所以，既然这安息为了一些进入它的人被保留下来，可是由于那些原先得以听到福音的人，因着不信从而没有进去，神就再次设定了一个日子——“今天”，就是在很久以后藉着大卫所说的，像预先说过的那样：“今天，你们如果听见他的声音，就不可硬着你们的心。”如果约书亚已经使他们得了安息，神后来就不会再说到另一个日子了。这样，就有一个“安息日的安息”为了神的子民被保留下来。
