「如果國中有饑荒、瘟疫、旱災、黴病、蝗災、蟲災，或是城邑被敵人圍困，無論遭遇什麼災禍疾病，

“国中若有饥荒、瘟疫、旱风、霉烂、蝗虫、蚂蚱，或有仇敌犯境围困城邑，无论遭遇什么灾祸疾病，

“这地若有饥荒、瘟疫、焚风、霉烂、蝗虫、蚂蚱，或有仇敌围困这地的城门，无论遭遇什么灾祸疾病，

“这地若有饥荒、瘟疫、焚风、霉烂、蝗虫、蚂蚱，或有仇敌围困这地的城门，无论遭遇什么灾祸疾病，

“如果国中有饥荒、瘟疫、旱灾、霉病、蝗灾、虫灾，或是城邑被敌人围困，无论遭遇什么灾祸疾病，

“如果这地有饥荒、瘟疫、旱风、霉烂、蝗虫、蚂蚱，或有仇敌把他们围困在城里，无论遭遇什么灾祸，什么疾病，

「國中若有饑荒、瘟疫、旱風、霉爛、蝗蟲、螞蚱，或有仇敵犯境圍困城邑，無論遭遇甚麼災禍疾病，

「這地若有饑荒、瘟疫、焚風、霉爛、蝗蟲、螞蚱，或有仇敵圍困這地的城門，無論遭遇甚麼災禍疾病，

「這地若有饑荒、瘟疫、焚風、霉爛、蝗蟲、螞蚱，或有仇敵圍困這地的城門，無論遭遇甚麼災禍疾病，

“如果這地有饑荒、瘟疫、旱風、霉爛、蝗蟲、螞蚱，或有仇敵把他們圍困在城裡，無論遭遇甚麼災禍，甚麼疾病，

『此地若有饑荒、瘟疫、旱風、霉爛、蝗蟲、螞蚱，若有仇敵圍困城市之地，無論甚麼災病、甚麼病痛，

若斯土有饑饉疫癘、五穀枯稿霉爛、或有蝻蝗蚱蜢、或有仇敵犯境、圍其城邑、無論何災何疾、

如於斯土有饑饉、瘟疫、風暴特甚、五穀細弱、如有蝗蟲、食其物產、如有仇敵、困其邑鄉、勿論何災、勿論何害。

如斯地有饑饉疫癘、或稼穡萎弱枯槁、或有蝗蝻蚱蜢之災、或敵人犯境、圍困城池、無論何災、無論何害、害原文作病

“ When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when an enemy besieges them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come,

“ Suppose there isn’t enough food in the land. And a plague strikes the land. The hot winds completely dry up our crops. Or locusts or grasshoppers come and eat them up. Or an enemy surrounds one of our cities and gets ready to attack it. Or trouble or sickness comes.

“ If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence or blight or mildew or locust or caterpillar, if their enemy besieges them in the land at their gates, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is,

“ If there is a famine in the land or a plague or crop disease or attacks of locusts or caterpillars, or if your people’s enemies are in the land besieging their towns— whatever disaster or disease there is—

When there is famine in the land, when there is pestilence, when there is blight or mildew, locust or grasshopper, when their enemy besieges them in the land and its cities, when there is any plague or illness,

“ If there is a famine in the land, if there is a plague, if there is blight or mildew, locust or grasshopper, if their enemy harasses them in the land of their cities, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is,

“ When there is famine in the land, pestilence or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers; when their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is;

If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, if there be blasting or mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness there be;

When there is famine on the earth, when there is pestilence, when there is blight, mildew, locust, or grasshopper, when their enemy besieges them in the region of their fortified cities, when there is any plague or illness,

If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust,[ or] if there be caterpiller; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness[ there be];

“ The time will come when the land suffers from a famine, a plague, blight and disease, or a locust invasion, or when their enemy lays siege to the cities of the land, or when some other type of plague or epidemic occurs.

“ If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight, mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities; whatever plague, whatever sickness there is;

我要懲罰你們，使你們陷入恐慌、患癆病和熱症，使你們眼睛昏花、心力衰竭。你們撒種卻一無所獲，因為敵人要吃盡你們所種的。

「祂要使瘟疫緊緊跟隨你們，直到你們在將要佔領的土地上被滅絕。「祂要使你們遭受癆病、熱症、瘧疾、炙熱、刀劍、乾旱和黴爛之災，直到你們滅亡。

『如果我們遭遇禍患，無論是戰禍、瘟疫或饑荒，當我們在急難中站在這殿前向你呼求時，你必定垂聽，施行拯救，因為你的名在這殿裡。』

「你們種的多，卻收的少，因為莊稼必被蝗蟲吃掉。「你們栽種、修剪葡萄園，卻吃不到葡萄，也喝不到葡萄酒，因為葡萄必被蟲子吃掉。「你們境內長滿橄欖樹，卻沒有橄欖油抹身，因為橄欖必未熟先落。「你們生兒育女，卻留不住一個，因為他們必被擄走。「蝗蟲要吃光你們的樹木和地上的出產。

「主耶和華說，『我要把戰禍、饑荒、猛獸和瘟疫這四大刑罰降在耶路撒冷，毀滅人和牲畜。

在你們的上帝耶和華所賜給你們的土地上，他們要把你們圍困在各個城邑中，直到你們所依賴的高大堅固的城牆都倒塌。「當你們被敵人圍困、陷入絕境時，你們必吃自己的親生骨肉——你們的上帝耶和華賜給你們的兒女。因為被敵人困在城中，饑餓難熬，連你們中間最溫柔體貼的男人也要獨自吞吃子女的肉，不肯分給自己的兄弟、愛妻和剩下的兒女。

撒瑪利亞被困後，城裡陷入嚴重饑荒，以致一個驢頭可賣九百克銀子，二百克鴿子糞可賣十一克銀子。一天，以色列王從城牆上走過，一個婦人向他哭喊道：「我主我王啊，求你幫幫我！」王說：「如果耶和華不幫助你，我怎能幫助你呢？我既無糧也無酒。你有什麼難處呢？」婦人說：「這個女人對我說，『我們今天吃你兒子，明天再吃我兒子。』於是我們把我兒子煮了吃。第二天我叫她把她兒子交出來，她卻把兒子藏了起來。」

「我派蝻蟲、蚱蜢、螞蚱和蝗蟲大軍在那些年所吃掉的，我要補償你們。你們必吃得飽足，並讚美你們的上帝耶和華的名，因祂為你們行了奇事。我的子民永遠不會再蒙羞。

「如果國中有饑荒、瘟疫、旱災、黴病、蝗災、蟲災，或是城邑被敵人圍困，無論遭遇什麼災禍疾病，只要你的以色列子民，或個人或全體，自知心中痛苦並向著這殿伸手禱告，無論祈求什麼，求你從天上的居所垂聽，赦免他們。唯獨你能洞察人心，你必按各人的行為施行賞罰，使你的子民在你賜給我們祖先的土地上終生敬畏你，遵行你的道。

或三年的饑荒，或被敵人追殺三個月，或國中遭三天的瘟疫，讓耶和華的天使在以色列全境施行毀滅。請你考慮好後告訴我，我好回覆那差我來的。」

「祂要使你們被敵人擊敗、潰不成軍、四散逃命，下場令天下萬國驚懼。

因為你們毀約，我要用戰禍報應你們。你們躲進各城的時候，我要在你們中間降下瘟疫，使你們落在敵人手裡。我要斷絕你們的糧源。那時候，十個婦女將用一個烤爐烤餅，按定量分餅給你們，你們吃卻吃不飽。「如果你們仍然不肯聽從我，繼續與我作對，我也要與你們作對，向你們發烈怒，把比先前嚴厲七倍的懲罰加在你們身上。你們要吃自己兒女的肉。我要毀滅你們的邱壇，拆掉你們的香壇，把你們的屍體堆在你們毫無氣息的神像上。我厭惡你們。我要使你們的城邑淪為廢墟，使你們的敬拜場所荒涼，也不再悅納你們的馨香之祭。我要使你們的土地荒廢，連佔據那裡的敵人也為此而震驚。我要把你們驅散到各國，還要拔刀追殺你們。你們的土地將荒廢，城邑將淪為廢墟。你們被擄到敵國的時候，你們的土地將荒廢，享受安息。你們住在那裡的時候，沒有在安息年讓土地安息，因此土地在荒廢的日子裡將享受安息。「我要使你們當中的那些倖存者在敵國心驚膽戰，過著風聲鶴唳、惶恐不安的生活。即使無人追趕，他們也將倉皇逃命，互相絆倒，如同躲避刀劍一樣。你們必無力抵擋敵人。你們將葬身列國，死在敵人的土地上。你們當中的倖存者將因自己的罪和祖先的罪而消亡在敵人的土地上。「如果他們承認自己和祖先的罪，就是背叛我、與我作對的惡行——以致我與他們作對，把他們流放到敵國；如果他們頑固的心謙卑下來，甘願接受刑罰，我便履行我與亞伯拉罕、以撒和雅各所立的約，眷顧那片土地。土地被他們離棄，荒無人煙，得享安息。他們卻要因拒絕遵守我的典章、厭棄我的律例而飽受懲罰。然而，他們流落敵國的時候，我不會棄絕他們，不會因厭惡而毀滅他們，也不會違背我與他們所立的約。我是他們的上帝耶和華。我必為他們的緣故履行我與他們祖先所立的約。我曾在列國面前帶領他們的祖先離開埃及，為要做他們的上帝。我是耶和華。」以上是耶和華藉摩西在西奈山上頒佈給以色列人的律例、典章和法度。

猶大王西底迦執政第九年十月，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領全軍包圍耶路撒冷。西底迦執政第十一年四月九日，耶路撒冷淪陷。尼甲·沙利薛、三甲·尼波、撒西金和另一個尼甲·沙利薛等巴比倫王的所有將領都進城坐在中門。

那時，巴比倫王的軍隊正圍攻耶路撒冷。耶利米先知被囚禁在猶大王宮中護衛兵的院子裡。

祂一發聲，就飛來無數蝗蟲和螞蚱，吃盡他們土地上的植物，吃盡他們田間的出產。

蝗蟲吃剩的，蝻子來吃；蝻子吃剩的，蚱蜢來吃；蚱蜢吃剩的，螞蚱來吃。醉漢啊，醒過來哭泣吧！貪杯的人啊，哀號吧！你們再無美酒可飲了。有一群兇猛的蝗蟲侵犯我的國土，牠們不計其數，有雄獅的獠牙和母獅的利齒。牠們毀壞我的葡萄樹和無花果樹，剝光樹皮，只留下光禿的樹枝。
