他使大災禍臨到我們，成就了警戒我們和審判我們官長的話；原來在普天之下未曾行過像在耶路撒冷所行的。

你當知道，當明白，從出令重新建造耶路撒冷，直到有受膏君的時候，必有七個七和六十二個七。正在艱難的時候，耶路撒冷城連街帶濠都必重新建造。

耶和華說：「日子將到，我要把人的種和牲畜的種播種在以色列家和猶大家。

「我在怒氣、忿怒，和大惱恨中，將以色列人趕到各國。日後我必從那裏將他們招聚出來，領他們回到此地，使他們安然居住。

這樣，耶和華將從前向他們列祖起誓所應許的全地賜給以色列人，他們就得了為業，住在其中。

耶和華如此說：「你們論這地方，說是荒廢無人民無牲畜之地，但在這荒涼無人民無牲畜的猶大城邑和耶路撒冷的街上，必再聽見有歡喜和快樂的聲音、新郎和新婦的聲音，並聽見有人說：要稱謝萬軍之耶和華，因耶和華本為善；他的慈愛永遠長存！又有奉感謝祭到耶和華殿中之人的聲音；因為我必使這地被擄的人歸回，和起初一樣。這是耶和華說的。」萬軍之耶和華如此說：「在這荒廢無人民無牲畜之地，並其中所有的城邑，必再有牧人的住處；他們要使羊羣躺臥在那裏。在山地的城邑、高原的城邑、南地的城邑、便雅憫地、耶路撒冷四圍的各處，和猶大的城邑必再有羊羣從數點的人手下經過。這是耶和華說的。」

以色列的民哪，我要再建立你，你就被建立；你必再以擊鼓為美，與歡樂的人一同跳舞而出；又必在撒馬利亞的山上栽種葡萄園，栽種的人要享用所結的果子。日子必到，以法蓮山上守望的人必呼叫說：起來吧！我們可以上錫安，到耶和華－我們的神那裏去。耶和華如此說：你們當為雅各歡樂歌唱，因萬國中為首的歡呼。當傳揚頌讚說：耶和華啊，求你拯救你的百姓以色列所剩下的人。我必將他們從北方領來，從地極招聚；同着他們來的有瞎子、瘸子、孕婦、產婦；他們必成為大幫回到這裏來。他們要哭泣而來。我要照他們懇求的引導他們，使他們在河水旁走正直的路，在其上不致絆跌；因為我是以色列的父，以法蓮是我的長子。

我起誓應許給亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的那地，我要把你們領進去，將那地賜給你們為業。我是耶和華。』」

蝗蟲吃盡那地的青物，我就說：「主耶和華啊，求你赦免；因為雅各微弱，他怎能站立得住呢？」

求主垂聽，求主赦免，求主應允而行，為你自己不要遲延。我的神啊，因這城和這民都是稱為你名下的。」

凡你所看見的一切地，我都要賜給你和你的後裔，直到永遠。

耶和華－我們的神啊，求你拯救我們，從外邦中招聚我們，我們好稱讚你的聖名，以讚美你為誇勝。

你僕人和你民以色列向此處祈禱的時候，求你在天上你的居所垂聽，垂聽而赦免。

波斯王塞魯士元年，耶和華為要應驗藉耶利米口所說的話，就激動波斯王塞魯士的心，使他下詔通告全國說：「波斯王塞魯士如此說：『耶和華天上的神已將天下萬國賜給我，又囑咐我在猶大的耶路撒冷為他建造殿宇。在你們中間凡作他子民的，可以上猶大的耶路撒冷，在耶路撒冷重建耶和華－以色列神的殿（只有他是神）。願神與這人同在。凡剩下的人，無論寄居何處，那地的人要用金銀、財物、牲畜幫助他，另外也要為耶路撒冷神的殿甘心獻上禮物。』」於是，猶大和便雅憫的族長、祭司、利未人，就是一切被神激動他心的人，都起來要上耶路撒冷去建造耶和華的殿。他們四圍的人就拿銀器、金子、財物、牲畜、珍寶幫助他們，另外還有甘心獻的禮物。
