but I will take the kingdom from his son’s hand and give it to you; that is, ten tribes.But to his son I will give one tribe, so that My servant David may always have a lamp before Me in Jerusalem, the city where I have chosen for Myself to put My name.

Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel for forty years.

So Israel has broken with the house of David to this day.And it came about, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, that they sent word and called him to the assembly, and made him king over all Israel. None except the tribe of Judah alone followed the house of David.

At Hebron he reigned over Judah for seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned for thirty three years over all Israel and Judah.

All of these, being men of war who helped in battle formation, came to Hebron with a perfect heart to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest of Israel also were of one mind to make David king.
