But Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ First, please ask what the LORD’s will is.”

But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel,“ First seek the counsel of the Lord.”

Jehoshaphat continued,“ First ask the Lord for advice.”

And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ Inquire first for the word of the Lord.”

Then Jehoshaphat added,“ But first let’s find out what the Lord says.”

However, Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ Please request the word of the Lord first.”

Also Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ Please inquire for the word of the Lord today.”

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire first, I pray thee, for the word of Jehovah.

But Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ First, please ask what the Lord’s will is.”

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

Then Jehoshaphat added,“ First seek an oracle from the LORD.”

Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ Please inquire first for Yahweh’s word.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the LORD here? Let’s inquire of the LORD through him.” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat, who used to pour water on Elijah’s hands, is here.”

the prophet Jeremiah and said,“ May our petition come before you; pray to the LORD your God on our behalf, on behalf of this entire remnant( for few of us remain out of the many, as you can see with your own eyes),that the LORD your God may tell us the way we should go and the thing we should do.”So the prophet Jeremiah said to them,“ I have heard. I will now pray to the LORD your God according to your words, and I will tell you every word that the LORD answers you; I won’t withhold a word from you.”And they said to Jeremiah,“ May the LORD be a true and faithful witness against us if we don’t act according to every word the LORD your God sends you to tell us.Whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, we will obey the LORD our God to whom we are sending you so that it may go well with us. We will certainly obey the LORD our God!”

But Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ First, please ask what the LORD’s will is.”So the king of Israel gathered the prophets, four hundred men, and asked them,“ Should we go to Ramoth-gilead for war or should I refrain?” They replied,“ March up, and God will hand it over to the king.”

They set out, went to Bethel, and inquired of God. The Israelites asked,“ Who is to go first to fight for us against the Benjaminites?” And the LORD answered,“ Judah will be first.”

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding;in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.

After the death of Joshua, the Israelites inquired of the LORD,“ Who will be the first to fight for us against the Canaanites?”

He will stand before the priest Eleazar who will consult the LORD for him with the decision of the Urim. He and all the Israelites with him, even the entire community, will go out and come back in at his command.”

“ Inquire of the LORD on our behalf, since King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon is making war against us. Perhaps the LORD will perform for us something like all his past wondrous works so that Nebuchadnezzar will withdraw from us.”

In the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, some of Israel’s elders came to inquire of the LORD, and they sat down in front of me.Then the word of the LORD came to me:“ Son of man, speak with the elders of Israel and tell them,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: Are you coming to inquire of me? As I live, I will not let you inquire of me. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.’

and David asked the LORD,“ Should I pursue these raiders? Will I overtake them?” The LORD replied to him,“ Pursue them, for you will certainly overtake them and rescue the people.”

Saul told Ahijah,“ Bring the ark of God,” for it was with the Israelites at that time.

Once again, David inquired of the LORD, and the LORD answered him,“ Go at once to Keilah, for I will hand the Philistines over to you.”

Saul died for his unfaithfulness to the LORD because he did not keep the LORD’s word. He even consulted a medium for guidance,

“ Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and have put their sinful stumbling blocks in front of themselves. Should I actually let them inquire of me?

Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions, but did not seek the LORD’s decision.

So Israel set up an ambush around Gibeah.

So David inquired of the LORD:“ Should I launch an attack against these Philistines?” The LORD answered David,“ Launch an attack against the Philistines and rescue Keilah.”

When David learned that Saul was plotting evil against him, he said to the priest Abiathar,“ Bring the ephod.”Then David said,“ LORD God of Israel, your servant has reliable information that Saul intends to come to Keilah and destroy the town because of me.Will the citizens of Keilah hand me over to him? Will Saul come down as your servant has heard? LORD God of Israel, please tell your servant.” The LORD answered,“ He will come down.”Then David asked,“ Will the citizens of Keilah hand me and my men over to Saul?”“ They will,” the LORD responded.

They went up, wept before the LORD until evening, and inquired of him,“ Should we again attack our brothers the Benjaminites?” And the LORD answered,“ Fight against them.”

But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite,“ Go and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them,‘ Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron?
