He said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ He answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

亚哈回答说：“我要耶斯列人拿伯将他的葡萄园卖给我，如果他愿意，我也可以用别的葡萄园跟他交换，可是他不肯。”

亚哈回答她说：“因为我对耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园让给我，我付你银子；或者你喜欢的话，我可以用另一个葡萄园与你交换’；可是他说：‘我不能把我的葡萄园让给你。’”

亞哈回答說：「我要耶斯列人拿伯將他的葡萄園賣給我，如果他願意，我也可以用別的葡萄園跟他交換，可是他不肯。」

亞哈回答她說：“因為我對耶斯列人拿伯說：‘把你的葡萄園讓給我，我付你銀子；或者你喜歡的話，我可以用另一個葡萄園與你交換’；可是他說：‘我不能把我的葡萄園讓給你。’”

他告訴她說：『因為我告訴耶斯列人拿伯說：「你將你的葡萄園給我來換取銀子；或是你若樂意，我就將別的葡萄園換給你」；他卻說：「我不能將我的葡萄園給你」』

亞哈謂之曰、我告耶斯烈人拿伯云、以爾葡萄園鬻我、我予爾以金、爾若欲他葡萄園、我則予爾以易之、彼曰、我不以我葡萄園予爾、

He answered her,“ Because I said to Naboth the Jezreelite,‘ Sell me your vineyard; or if you prefer, I will give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

He answered her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth from Jezreel. I said,‘ Sell me your vineyard. Or, if you prefer, I’ll give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I won’t sell you my vineyard.’ ”

And he said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money, or else, if it please you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

“ I asked Naboth to sell me his vineyard or trade it, but he refused!” Ahab told her.

“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite,” he replied.“ I told him,‘ Give me your vineyard for silver, or if you wish, I will give you a vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I won’t give you my vineyard!’”

So he said to her,“ It is because I was speaking to Naboth the Jezreelite and saying to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you a vineyard in place of it.’ But he said,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’ ”

He said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

He answered her,“ While I was talking to Naboth the Jezreelite, I said to him,‘ Sell me your vineyard for silver, or if you prefer, I will give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I will not sell you my vineyard.’”

But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying,“ Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near my house; and I will give you for it a better vineyard than it. Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.”Naboth said to Ahab,“ May Yahweh forbid me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!”Ahab came into his house sullen and angry because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said,“ I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” He laid himself down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.

Then Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he didn’t stand up nor move for him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.Nevertheless Haman restrained himself, and went home. There, he sent and called for his friends and Zeresh his wife.Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches, the multitude of his children, all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.Haman also said,“ Yes, Esther the queen let no man come in with the king to the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and tomorrow I am also invited by her together with the king.Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.”Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him,“ Let a gallows be made fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on it. Then go in merrily with the king to the banquet.” This pleased Haman, so he had the gallows made.

The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.

You lust, and don’t have. You murder and covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask.You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain,“ The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?But he gives more grace. Therefore it says,“ God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Mordecai came back to the king’s gate, but Haman hurried to his house, mourning and having his head covered.
