不可褻瀆上帝，也不可咒詛百姓的官長。

於是，他們暗中唆使一些人誣告司提凡說：「我們聽見他說褻瀆摩西和上帝的話！」

你要告訴以色列人，誰咒詛上帝，誰就要承擔自己的罪。凡褻瀆耶和華聖名的，必須被處死，全體會眾要用石頭打死他。不論是外族人還是以色列人，凡褻瀆聖名的，都必須被處死。

「如果人犯了什麼罪或有什麼過失，不可憑一個證人作證就定罪，要有兩三個證人才可以定案。

祭司長和全公會的人正在尋找假證據來控告耶穌，好定祂死罪。雖然有很多假證人誣告祂，但都找不到真憑實據。最後有兩個人上前高聲說：「這個人曾經說過，『我能拆毀聖殿，三天內把它重建起來。』」大祭司站起來質問耶穌：「你不回答嗎？這些人作證控告你的是什麼呢？」耶穌還是沉默不語。大祭司又對祂說：「我奉永活上帝的名命令你起誓告訴我們，你是不是上帝的兒子基督？」耶穌說：「如你所言。但我告訴你們，將來你們要看見人子坐在大能者的右邊，駕著天上的雲降臨。」大祭司撕裂衣服，說：「祂褻瀆了上帝！我們還需要什麼證人呢？你們現在親耳聽見了祂說褻瀆的話，你們看怎麼辦？」他們回應說：「祂該死！」

猶太人回答說：「我們不是因為你做的善事打你，而是因為你說了褻瀆的話，你是人，卻把自己當作上帝。」

他們還派人作偽證說：「司提凡常常講侮辱聖地和律法的話。

他們正歡快的時候，城裡的一群無賴前來圍住房子，連連叩門，對老人說：「把你家裡的客人交出來，我們要跟他性交。」
