遂束麻於腰、繫索於首、詣以色列王曰、爾僕便哈達云、請存我命、曰、彼尚在乎、我兄弟也、

遂衣麻於身。繫索於項、至以色列王前曰、爾臣便哈達云、請宥我命、曰、我兄弟尚在乎。

遂腰束麻、項繫繩、至以色列王前、曰、王之僕便哈達云、求王存我命、曰、彼若尚存、我必以兄相待、

Wearing sackcloth around their waists and ropes around their heads, they went to the king of Israel and said,“ Your servant Ben-Hadad says:‘ Please let me live.’” The king answered,“ Is he still alive? He is my brother.”

So they wore rough clothing. They tied ropes around their heads. Then they went to the king of Israel. They told him,“ Your servant Ben- Hadad says,‘ Please let me live.’ ” The king answered,“ Is he still alive? He used to be my friend.”

So they tied sackcloth around their waists and put ropes on their heads and went to the king of Israel and said,“ Your servant Ben-hadad says,‘ Please, let me live.’” And he said,“ Does he still live? He is my brother.”

So they put on burlap and ropes, and they went to the king of Israel and begged,“ Your servant Ben hadad says,‘ Please let me live!’” The king of Israel responded,“ Is he still alive? He is my brother!”

So they dressed with sackcloth around their waists and ropes around their heads, went to the king of Israel, and said,“ Your servant Ben-hadad says,‘ Please spare my life.’” So he said,“ Is he still alive? He is my brother.”

So they put sackcloth around their waists and ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel and said,“ Your servant Ben hadad says,‘ Please let me live.’ ” And Ahab said,“ Is he still alive? He is my brother.”

So they wore sackcloth around their waists and put ropes around their heads, and came to the king of Israel and said,“ Your servant Ben-Hadad says,‘ Please let me live.’” And he said,“ Is he still alive? He is my brother.”

So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Thy servant Ben- hadad saith, I pray thee, let me live. And he said, Is he yet alive? he is my brother.

So they put sackcloth on their bodies and ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said,“ Your servant Ben Hadad says,‘ Please let me live.’” He said,“ Is he still alive? He is my brother.”

‘你的銀子，你的金子都是我的；你的妻子和你最健壯的兒女也是我的。’”以色列王回答說：“我主我王啊，就照著你所說的，我和我所有的一切都可以歸你。”那些使者再來說：“便．哈達這樣說：‘我曾經差派人對你說：你要把你的銀子，你的金子，你的妻子和你的兒女都給我。明天大約這個時間，我要差派我的臣僕到你那裡去；他們要搜查你的王宮和你臣僕的家；凡是他們看為寶貴的，他們都要下手拿走。’”

到那日，眼目高傲的人必降卑，性情驕傲的人也必俯首，唯獨耶和華被高舉。因為萬軍之耶和華必有一日，要攻擊一切驕傲的、狂妄的，和所有高抬自己的，他們都要降卑。

但他心高氣傲、妄自尊大的時候，就從國位上被趕下來，他的尊榮也被奪去。他被趕逐，離開人群，他的心變如獸心，他和野驢同住，像牛一樣吃草，身體被天露滴濕；等到他承認至高的神在世人的國中掌權，他喜歡誰，就立誰執掌國權。伯沙撒啊！你是他的子孫，你雖然知道這一切，你的心仍不謙卑，竟高抬自己，敵對天上的主，使人把他殿中的器皿拿到你面前來，你和你的大臣、妻妾、妃嬪用這些器皿喝酒；你又讚美那些不能看見、不能聽見、甚麼都不能知道，用金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石所做的神，卻沒有把榮耀歸給那手中有你的氣息，和那掌管你一切命途的神。

你心中的傲氣欺騙了你；你這住在巖石的隱密處，居所在高處的啊！你心裡說：“誰能把我拉下地呢？”你雖如鷹高飛，在星宿之間搭窩，我也必從那裡把你拉下來。這是耶和華的宣告。

先知對王說：“耶和華這樣說：因為你把我要滅絕的人從你手中放走，所以要你替他償命。要你的人民抵償他的人民。”

生擒了亞瑪力人的王亞甲，用刀殺滅了所有人民。但掃羅和眾人憐惜亞甲，也愛惜上好的牛羊、肥牛犢、羊羔和一切美好的東西。他們不願徹底毀滅這些；凡是卑賤的、沒有價值的，他們就徹底毀滅。耶和華的話臨到撒母耳說：“我後悔立了掃羅為王，因為他已經離去不跟隨我，也不執行我的命令了。”撒母耳非常忿怒，整夜哀求耶和華。撒母耳清早起來，要在早晨去見掃羅；有人告訴撒母耳：“掃羅到了迦密，在那裡為自己立了一座紀念碑，然後轉身下到吉甲去了。”撒母耳到了掃羅那裡，掃羅對他說：“願耶和華賜福給你！我已經執行了耶和華的命令。”撒母耳說：“我耳中聽見有羊叫牛鳴的聲音，到底是甚麼呢？”掃羅回答：“這是眾民從亞瑪力人那裡帶來的，因為他們愛惜這些上好的牛羊，要獻給耶和華你的神為祭；其餘的，我們都已經徹底毀滅了。”撒母耳對掃羅說：“住口吧！讓我把耶和華昨天晚上對我所說的話告訴你。”掃羅對他說：“請說。”撒母耳說：“從前你雖然自以為微小，不是作了以色列眾支派的首領嗎？耶和華膏立了你作以色列的王，差遣你去，說：‘你去徹底毀滅那些犯罪的亞瑪力人，攻打他們，直到把他們全部毀滅。’你為甚麼沒有聽從耶和華的話，急於奪取戰利品，作了耶和華看為惡的事呢？”掃羅回答撒母耳：“我實在聽從了耶和華的話，行了耶和華差遣我行的路；我把亞瑪力人的王亞甲帶了回來，又把亞瑪力人都徹底毀滅了。

要倒盡你忿激的怒氣，觀看所有驕傲的人，使他們降卑。觀看所有驕傲的人，把他制伏，把惡人踐踏在他們的地方，

主在錫安山和耶路撒冷成全了他一切工作的時候，他必說：我要懲罰亞述王自大的心所結的果子，和他眼目高傲的態度。

他把謀士剝衣擄去，並且愚弄審判官。他解開了君王綁人的繩索，又用腰布捆綁君王的腰。

他的臣僕對他說：“我們聽說以色列家的王都是仁慈的王；我們不如腰束麻布，頭套繩索，出去投降以色列王，或許他會使你的性命存活。”
