你們五個人必追趕一百人，一百人必追趕一萬人；你們的仇敵必在你們面前倒在刀下。

約拿單手腳並用地爬了上去，替他拿武器的人跟著他。非利士人在約拿單面前倒下，替他拿武器的也跟在後面把他們殺死。約拿單和替他拿武器的第一次殺敵，約殺死了二十人，都是在四分之一公頃的範圍內殺的。於是在營房裡，在田野中和在眾人中間，都有恐慌，駐軍和突擊隊也都恐懼，地也震動，這是從神而來的恐懼。

三隊的人就都吹角，打破瓦瓶，左手緊握著火把，右手緊握著角不住地吹，並且喊叫說：“耶和華和基甸的刀！”他們在營的四周各站在自己的位置；全營的人都亂跑，他們一面叫喊，一面逃跑。三百人吹那三百枝角的時候，耶和華使全營的人用刀互相擊殺，然後他們向著西利拉逃到伯．哈示他，直到靠近他巴的亞伯．米何拉河邊。

於是亞述王西拿基立拔營離開，回去住在尼尼微。

我又看見在日光之下，跑得快的未必得獎，勇士未必戰勝，智慧的未必得糧食，精明的未必致富，博學的未必得人賞識，因為時機和際遇左右眾人。

列邦喧嚷，萬國動搖；神一發聲，地就融化。
