He said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

Ben- Hadad said,“ They might be coming to make peace. If they are, take them alive. Or they might be coming to make war. If they are, take them alive.”

He said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive. Or if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

“ Take them alive,” Ben hadad commanded,“ whether they have come for peace or for war.”

So he said,“ If they have marched out in peace, take them alive, and if they have marched out for battle, take them alive.”

Then he said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; or if they have come out for war, take them alive as well.”

So he said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; and if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

And he said, Whether they are come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they are come out for war, take them alive.

那时，亚玛谢差遣使者去见耶户的孙子约哈斯的儿子以色列王约阿施，说：“你来，我们二人相见于战场。”以色列王约阿施差遣使者去见犹大王亚玛谢，说：“黎巴嫩的蒺藜差遣使者去见黎巴嫩的香柏树，说：将你的女儿给我儿子为妻。后来黎巴嫩有一只野兽经过，把蒺藜践踏了。你打败了以东人就心高气傲，你以此为荣耀，在家里安居就罢了，为何要惹祸，使自己和犹大国一同败亡呢？”亚玛谢却不肯听这话。于是以色列王约阿施上来，在犹大的伯示麦与犹大王亚玛谢相见于战场。犹大人败在以色列人面前，各自逃回家里去了。

非利士人又对大卫说：“来吧！我将你的肉给空中的飞鸟、田野的走兽吃。”

人不要夸口说骄傲的话，也不要出狂妄的言语；因耶和华是大有智识的神，人的行为被他衡量。勇士的弓都已折断；跌倒的人以力量束腰。

败坏之先，人心骄傲；尊荣以前，必有谦卑。

二人就使非利士的防兵看见。非利士人说：“希伯来人从所藏的洞穴里出来了！”防兵对约拿单和拿兵器的人说：“你们上到这里来，我们有一件事指示你们。”约拿单就对拿兵器的人说：“你跟随我上去，因为耶和华将他们交在以色列人手里了。”
