He said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

Ben- Hadad said,“ They might be coming to make peace. If they are, take them alive. Or they might be coming to make war. If they are, take them alive.”

He said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive. Or if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

“ Take them alive,” Ben hadad commanded,“ whether they have come for peace or for war.”

So he said,“ If they have marched out in peace, take them alive, and if they have marched out for battle, take them alive.”

Then he said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; or if they have come out for war, take them alive as well.”

So he said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; and if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

And he said, Whether they are come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they are come out for war, take them alive.

So he said,“ If they have marched out in peace, take them alive, and if they have marched out for battle, take them alive.”

那时，亚玛谢派使者去见耶户的孙子、约哈斯的儿子以色列王约阿施说：“来，我们在战场相见吧！”以色列王约阿施派人去见犹大王亚玛谢说：“黎巴嫩的蒺藜派人去见黎巴嫩的香柏树说：‘请你把你的女儿给我的儿子作妻子吧！’后来有黎巴嫩的野兽经过，就把蒺藜踩倒了。不错，你打败了以东人，你的心就高傲。你尽管自己夸耀，安坐家中就是了。为什么要惹祸，使你覆亡，也使犹大跟你一起覆亡呢？”但是亚玛谢不听他的话。于是以色列王约阿施上来，和犹大王亚玛谢在属犹大的伯．示麦相见。犹大人被以色列人击败，各人逃回自己的家去了。

那非利士人又对大卫说：“你到我这里来吧！我要把你的肉给空中的飞鸟和田野的走兽吃。”

你们不要多说骄傲的话，也不要口出狂妄之言，因为耶和华是全知的神，人的一切行为他都鉴察。勇士的弓都被折断，跌倒的人却以力量束腰。

灭亡以先，人心高傲；尊荣以先，必有谦卑。

他们二人就让非利士人的驻军看见。非利士人说：“看哪！有希伯来人从他们躲藏的洞里出来了。”驻军中有人应声对约拿单和替他拿武器的人说：“你们上我们这里来吧！我们有一件事要告诉你们。”约拿单对替他拿武器的人说：“你跟我上去，因为耶和华已经把他们交在以色列人的手里了。”
