你和你的兒子，以及你的僕人要為他耕耘田地，帶來收成，使你主人的孫子有糧食吃。你主人的孫子米非波設必常與我同席吃飯。」洗巴有十五個兒子，二十個僕人。

有一個報信的人來見大衛說：「以色列人的心都歸向押沙龍了。」大衛就對所有在耶路撒冷隨同他的臣僕說：「起來，我們必須逃走，否則我們就來不及從押沙龍面前逃脫。要趕快走，免得他很快追上我們，加害我們，用刀劍擊殺城裡的人。」王的臣僕們對王說：「我主我王所決定的一切，看哪，僕人都必遵行。」

看哪，我站在門口敲門。如果有人聽見我的聲音就開門，我就會進到他那裡，而且我與他、他與我，將要一同吃宴席。那得勝的，我將要准許他與我一起坐在我的寶座上；就像我已經得勝，與我父一起坐在他的寶座上那樣。

你的朋友和你父親的朋友，你都不要離棄；在你遭難的日子裡，你不要進入兄弟的家；近處的鄰居，好過遠方的兄弟。

基列人巴爾兹萊從羅格琳下來，與王一同前往約旦河，要在約旦河那裡給王送行。巴爾兹萊很老了，已經八十歲。王住在瑪哈念的時候，他供應了王，因為他是一個非常富有的人。王對巴爾兹萊說：「你與我一起過去吧，我會在耶路撒冷、在我的身邊供養你。」巴爾兹萊對王說：「我就算與王一起上耶路撒冷，還能活多少年日呢？我現在已經八十歲了，還能辨別好壞嗎？難道你的僕人還能品嘗所吃的、所喝的嗎？難道我還能聽出男女歌唱的聲音嗎？你的僕人何必成為我主我王額外的負擔呢？僕人只不過是陪同王過約旦河，王何必以這樣的賞賜恩待我呢？請讓僕人回去吧，我要死在本鄉，靠近我父母的墳墓。看哪，你的僕人金罕在這裡，讓他與我主我王一同過去吧。你看怎樣好，就怎樣對待他。」王說：「就讓金罕與我一同過去，我必按你看為好的對待他。你希望我做的一切，我都會為你成全。」於是全體軍兵渡過約旦河，王也過去了。王親吻巴爾兹萊，祝福了他，然後巴爾兹萊回自己的地方去了。王前往吉甲，金罕也與他一同過去；所有的猶大軍兵，還有以色列軍兵的一半，都護送王過去。

主人回來的時候，看見哪些奴僕警醒著，那些奴僕就蒙福了。我確實地告訴你們：主人會束上腰帶，請他們坐席，並來伺候他們。

不過我在試煉當中，始終與我在一起的就是你們；並且我把國度賜給你們，就像我父賜給了我那樣，使你們在我的國度裡，在我的筵席上吃喝；並且坐在寶座上審判以色列的十二個支派。」

我父的全家，本來就在我主我王面前什麼都不是，只不過是該死之人，你卻把僕人安排在你筵席上吃飯的人當中。我還有什麼權利向王呼求更多呢？」
