主啊，你是對的，是我們滿面蒙羞，正如今日一樣；慚愧的是猶大人，是耶路撒冷居民，是以色列眾人、無論近處或遠處、在你趕逐他們到之各地的，都因他們對你表現了不忠實。

我便以禁食麻布爐灰咬緊牙根而向主上帝尋求、禱告、懇求。

以利亞聽見，就用外衣蒙着臉，出來站在洞口；忽有聲音向他說：『以利亞啊，你在這裏作甚麼？』

約書亞便撕裂衣裳；他和以色列長老、在永恆主的櫃前面、臉伏於地、直到晚上，也把塵土撒在頭上。

現在你要差遣人集合以色列人、和巴力的神言人四百五十個、以及亞舍拉的神言人四百個、都上迦密山去見我。』亞哈就差遣人到以色列眾人中去集合所有的神言人都上迦密山。

希西家就轉臉朝牆，禱告永恆主說：

既解散了羣眾，他就獨個兒上山去禱告。到了傍晚，他單獨一人在那裏。

在他四圍有撒拉弗侍立着；每一個都有六個翅膀：用兩個翅膀遮臉，兩個翅膀遮腳，兩個翅膀飛翔着。

一位在聖天使議會中令人惶悚的上帝，比一切在他四圍的又大又可畏懼。

當這些日子、耶穌出去到上山禱告，整夜禱告上帝。

所以你們要彼此認罪，互相代禱，使你們得醫治，義人竭力的祈求是大有功效的。以利亞是和我們同樣性質的人；他懇切禱告，求別下雨，雨就三年零六個月沒有下在地上。他又禱告，天就賜下雨水，地就產生果實來。

說：『我的上帝啊，我抱愧蒙羞，不敢向我的上帝仰面，因為我們的罪愆多到滅頂，我們的罪過大到滔天。

大衛就為這孩子求問上帝；苦苦地禁食，進入內室，穿着麻布，躺在地上。

亞伯拉罕的僕人聽見他們這些話，就伏地敬拜永恆主。

他就稍往前走，俯伏在地上禱告、能不能使那鐘點離開他而過去。
