He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry.

But he answered,“ It is written,“‘ Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

“ Or who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb,when I made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band,and prescribed limits for it and set bars and doors,and said,‘ Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?“ Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place,that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?

“ Take the staff, and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water. So you shall bring water out of the rock for them and give drink to the congregation and their cattle.”

Who provides for the raven its prey, when its young ones cry to God for help, and wander about for lack of food?

Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.

When he is quiet, who can condemn? When he hides his face, who can behold him, whether it be a nation or a man?—
