He followed completely the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat, committing the same sin Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit, so that they aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, by their worthless idols.

He lived the way Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, had lived. He committed the same sin Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit. Israel made the Lord very angry. They did it by worshiping worthless statues of gods. The Lord is the God of Israel.

彼雖知天主、不以天主尊之、亦不謝之、乃思念虛妄、心以頑而愈昧、自稱為智、反成愚魯、以永生不可壞天主之榮、易以偶像、髣髴可壞之人、及禽獸昆蟲之形、

異邦人所奉虛無之神、有能降雨者乎、天能自沛甘霖乎、主我之天主歟、能若是者、非主乎、主行此諸事、故我仍仰望主、

耶羅波安尋思曰、恐國仍歸大衛家、斯民如上耶路撒冷、在主殿獻祭、則其心必歸向其主王猶大王羅波安、且必殺我、而仍歸猶大王羅波安所轄、於是耶羅波安王籌思計議、造金犢二、謂民曰、爾上耶路撒冷甚難、以色列人歟、此即導爾出伊及之神、王置一犢在伯特利、一犢在但、此事陷民於罪、民往但崇拜牛犢、耶羅波安建邱壇之室、以不屬利未後裔之凡民、立為祭司、耶羅波安私設節期於八月之望、效猶大節期、上祭壇獻祭、在伯特利亦如斯行、祭所作之犢、又在伯特利為所築之邱壇立祭司、耶羅波安在私意所定之月、即八月、是月之望、為以色列人定為節期、上伯特利所築之壇、獻祭焚香、

主藉哈拿尼子先知耶戶、切責巴沙與其家、因其行惡於主前、從耶羅波安家之所為、干犯主怒、又因其殺戮耶羅波安之家、○

先知曰、主歟、主賜我以力、護我如鞏固之城、我遇難之日、就主蒙庇、異邦人自地極而來、歸誠於主、曰、我祖所承受於古、皆浮偽虛無、毫無裨益、

蓋異邦人之禮儀虛偽、所敬者乃木、伐於林中、工師以斧製之、

斯事之後、耶羅波安仍不悔改惡行、復以凡民立為邱壇之祭司、有願者則立之、使為邱壇之祭司、此事陷耶羅波安家於罪中、致其家殲滅於天下、

信奉虛假之人、為我所憎惡、我惟主是賴、

我自塵埃中舉爾、立爾為我民以色列之君、乃爾從耶羅波安所為、使我民以色列人陷於罪、作惡干犯我怒、

我民忘我、焚香於虛無之神、人使之蹶於其道、即舊道、使行未平治之途、

彼皆愚昧、同為無識、拜偶像之典章、盡屬虛妄、所拜者惟木偶、

呼曰、爾曹何為行此、我儕亦人、與爾同情、特傳福音於爾、使爾棄此虛妄、而歸造天地海及其中萬物之永生天主、

我民哀號之聲、自遠方而來曰、主豈不在郇乎、郇豈無君乎、主曰、彼何崇拜偶像、及異邦虛無之神、干犯我怒哉、
