Then Asa rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the city of his father David. And Jehoshaphat his son succeeded him as king.

He joined the members of his family who had already died. He was buried in his family tomb. It was in the city of King David. Asa’s son Jehoshaphat became the next king after him.

以色列王亞哈四年、亞撒的兒子約沙法登極來管理猶大。約沙法登極的時候、三十五歲；他在耶路撒冷作王二十五年，他母親名叫阿蘇巴，是示利希的女兒。約沙法走他父親亞撒所始終走的路，總不偏離，乃行永恆主所看為對的事；只是邱壇還沒有廢去，人民仍然在邱壇上宰牲燻祭。

亞撒的兒子約沙法接替了亞撒來作王；約沙法奮勇自強、以防禦以色列人。他安置了軍兵在猶大的一切堡壘城，又安置駐防營在猶大地和以法蓮城市，那些城市是他父親亞撒所攻取的。永恆主和約沙法同在，因為他行了他父親初行的道路，不尋求眾巴力，只尋求他父親的上帝，遵行上帝的誡命，不效法以色列人的作風而行。故此永恆主就堅立他手下的國；猶大眾人也給約沙法獻禮物；約沙法遂大有財富和尊榮。在永恆主的道路上他的心志很振奮；他還從猶大地除掉了邱壇和亞舍拉神木。他作王第三年就差遣大臣、有才德的人：俄巴底、撒迦利雅、拿坦業、米該亞、在猶大各城去教訓人。同他們去的有利未人示瑪雅、尼探雅、西巴第雅、亞撒黑、示米拉末、約拿單、亞多尼雅、多比雅、駝巴多尼雅這些利未人；又有祭司以利沙瑪、約蘭、和他們一同去。他們在猶大教訓人，也隨身帶着永恆主的律法書：他們環遊到猶大各城，在民間教訓人。
