说：“你父曾与我父立约，我与你也要立约。现在我将金银送你为礼物，求你废掉你与以色列王巴沙所立的约，使他离开我。”

“你父曾与我父立约，我与你也要这样立约。看哪，我把金银送给你作礼物，请你废掉你与以色列王巴沙所立的约，使他从我这里撤退。”

“我们之间应立盟约，像我们的父亲之间立约一样，现在奉上金银为礼，请你取消与以色列王巴沙立的盟约。这样，他就会从我境内退兵。”

“ Let there be a treaty between me and you,” he said,“ as there was between my father and your father. See, I am sending you a gift of silver and gold. Now break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so he will withdraw from me.”

“ Let’s make a peace treaty between us,” Asa said.“ My father and your father had made a peace treaty between them. Now I’m sending you a gift of silver and gold. So break your treaty with Baasha, the king of Israel. Then he’ll go back home.”

“ Let there be a covenant between me and you, as there was between my father and your father. Behold, I am sending to you a present of silver and gold. Go, break your covenant with Baasha king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me.”

“ Let there be a treaty between you and me like the one between your father and my father. See, I am sending you a gift of silver and gold. Break your treaty with King Baasha of Israel so that he will leave me alone.”

基遍人原來不是以色列人，乃是亞摩利人中剩下來的；以色列人曾經和他們有誓約；掃羅卻對以色列人和猶大人生了妒愛熱情，想法子要擊殺基遍人。大衛王把基遍人召了來，問他們說：

難道要說：「讓我們作惡，使善來到」麼？（這是我們所受的毁謗；有人說我們曾說了這話）：這樣辯論的人之受定罪、是該當的。

就在那時先見哈拿尼就來見猶大王亞撒，對他說：『因你依靠着亞蘭王，沒有依靠永恆主你的上帝、故此亞蘭王的軍隊才逃脫了你的手。

他從以色列王家後裔中取了一人，叫他發咒起誓、而跟他立約，巴王將國中有勢力的人擄去，使國低微，不能挺起，惟獨守約才得以存立。但他卻背叛了巴王，反而差遣使者往埃及去，要他們給他馬匹和許多兵丁。他哪能順利成功呢？行這樣事的人哪能逃脫呢？違反了盟約哪能逃脫呢？主永恆主發神諭說：我指着永活的我來起誓：巴王立他做王，他竟藐視了發咒起誓的話，違反了巴王跟他所立的約；因此他一定必死在巴比倫、巴王住的地方。

見異象者哈拿尼的兒子耶戶出來和約沙法王見面，對他說：『你哪可幫助惡人、愛那恨惡永恆主的人呢？因此那出於永恆主的震怒就要臨到你了。

良知蒙昧的、不守約的、無親情的、不憐恤人的。

有禍啊！那些下埃及去求幫助的！他們依靠馬匹，倚賴車輛，因為很多；他們倚賴馬兵，因為馬兵極強壯，他們卻不仰望以色列之聖者，永恆主、他們竟不求問！

『你我之間必須有個約，像你父親與我父親之間也有個約；看哪，我將金銀送給你；求你去廢棄你同以色列王巴沙所立的約，使他離開我。』
