But this word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God:

But a message from God came to Shemaiah. He was a man of God. God said to him,

And the woman said to Elijah, Now I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of Jehovah in thy mouth is truth.

And he said, At this season, when the time cometh round, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thy handmaid.

Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, Ye have forsaken me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, Jehovah is righteous.And when Jehovah saw that they humbled themselves, the word of Jehovah came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves: I will not destroy them; but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught hold of his feet. And Gehazi came near to thrust her away; but the man of God said, Let her alone: for her soul is vexed within her; and Jehovah hath hid it from me, and hath not told me.

And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.

But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of Jehovah unto Beth- el: and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.

And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? thou art come unto me to bring my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son!

So she went, and came unto the man of God to mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is the Shunammite:

And she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the servants, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again.

And it came to pass, when the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Beth- el, that Jeroboam put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to him.The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of Jehovah.

Now there dwelt an old prophet in Beth- el; and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Beth- el: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them also they told unto their father.
