所罗门背弃了我，去祭拜西顿人的女神亚斯她录、摩押的神明基抹、亚扪人的神明米勒公。他没有遵行我的道，没有做我视为正的事，也不像他父亲大卫那样遵守我的律例和典章。

撒母耳对他们说：“如果你们全心归向耶和华，就要除掉你们那些外族的神明，包括亚斯她录神像，一心归向耶和华，单单事奉祂，祂必从非利士人手中救你们。”于是，他们除掉了巴力和亚斯她录神像，单单事奉耶和华。

后来，以色列人又做耶和华视为恶的事，祭拜巴力和亚斯她录，又拜亚兰、西顿、摩押、亚扪和非利士的神明。他们背弃耶和华，不再事奉祂。

不可把儿女当作祭物献给假神摩洛，不可亵渎你上帝的名。我是耶和华。

“你把以下条例告诉以色列人。“在你们或寄居在你们中间的外族人中，如果有人把子女献给假神摩洛，必须处死他，当地的人要用石头打死他。我也必严惩那人，将他从民中铲除。因为他把子女献给摩洛，玷污我的圣所，亵渎我的圣名。如果那地方的人对此置之不理，没有处死那人，我必严惩那人一家，从民中铲除他和那些追随他与摩洛苟合的人。

他们就向耶和华呼求，‘耶和华啊，我们犯了罪，我们背弃了你去供奉巴力和亚斯她录，现在求你从仇敌手中救我们，我们必事奉你。’

我必铲除那些在屋顶祭拜天上万象的人，铲除敬拜我、凭我起誓又凭米勒公起誓的人，

你们去对岸的基提看看，派人去基达仔细观察一下，看看有没有这样的事？虽然列国的神明根本不是真神，却没有一国更换自己的神明。但我的子民却把自己荣耀的上帝换作了无用的假神。诸天啊，要因此而震惊战栗、大感凄凉。这是耶和华说的。因为我的子民犯了两项罪，他们离弃了我这活水源泉，为自己挖了不能蓄水的破池子。
