罗波安王第五年，埃及王示撒上来攻打耶路撒冷，因为他们背叛了耶和华。示撒带着一千二百辆战车，六万名骑兵，以及跟随他从埃及出来的路比人、苏基人和古实人的军队，多得不可胜数。他攻取了犹大的坚固城，来到耶路撒冷。那时，犹大的领袖因为示撒的缘故聚集在耶路撒冷，有先知示玛雅去见罗波安和众领袖，对他们说：“耶和华如此说：‘你们离弃了我，所以我也离弃你们，把你们交在示撒手里。’”于是以色列的领袖和王都谦卑说：“耶和华是公义的。”耶和华见他们谦卑，耶和华的话就临到示玛雅，说：“他们既谦卑，我必不灭绝他们；我要使他们暂时得拯救，不藉着示撒的手将我的怒气倒在耶路撒冷。然而他们必作示撒的仆人，好叫他们知道，服事我与服事地上邦国有何分别。”于是，埃及王示撒上来攻取耶路撒冷，夺了耶和华殿和王宫里的宝物，尽都带走，又夺走所罗门制造的金盾牌。

万军之耶和华起誓说：“我怎样思想，必照样成就；我怎样定意，必照样坚立，要在我的地上击破亚述，在我的山上将它践踏。它的轭必离开受压制的人，它的重担必离开他们的肩头。”这是向全地所定的旨意，向万国所伸出的手。万军之耶和华既然定意，谁能阻挠呢？他的手已经伸出，谁能使它缩回呢？

亚撒恼恨先见，为了这事向他发怒，将他囚在监里。那时亚撒也虐待一些百姓。

没有人能以智慧、聪明、谋略抵挡耶和华。

若非主发命令，谁能说了就成呢？

我从起初就指明末后的事，从古时便言明未成的事，说：“我的筹算必立定；凡我所喜悦的，我必成就。”
