As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been.

As Solomon grew older, his wives turned his heart toward other gods. He didn’t follow the Lord his God with all his heart. So he wasn’t like his father David.

For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.

“ And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. (niv)

The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the ways of his father David before him. He did not consult the Baals (niv)

Although he did not remove the high places, Asa’s heart was fully committed to the Lord all his life. (niv)

In the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites came out of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, the second month, he began to build the temple of the Lord. (niv)

He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold. (niv)

“ As for this temple you are building, if you follow my decrees, observe my laws and keep all my commands and obey them, I will fulfill through you the promise I gave to David your father.And I will live among the Israelites and will not abandon my people Israel.” (niv)

This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah, doing what was good and right and faithful before the Lord his God.In everything that he undertook in the service of God’s temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered. (niv)

Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years. (niv)
