耶和华对摩西说：“看哪，你快要和你的列祖长眠了；这人民要起来，在他们所要去的地方，在那地的人中，与外族人的神行邪淫，离弃我，破坏我与他们所立的约。

到了你的寿数满足，你与你的列祖一起长眠的时候，我必兴起你亲生的后裔接替你，并且我要坚固他的国。

你必得享长寿，被人埋葬，平平安安地回到你列祖那里。

所罗门王回答他母亲，说：“你为什么要为亚多尼雅求书念的女子亚比煞呢？你也可以为他求这个国位，因为他是我的哥哥，又有亚比亚他祭司和洗鲁雅的儿子约押拥护他。”于是所罗门王指着耶和华起誓，说：“如果亚多尼雅不因说了这话而送命，愿神惩罚我，并且加倍惩罚我。现在，我指着永活的耶和华─那位坚立了我，使我坐在我父亲大卫的王位上，又照他所应许，为我建立家室的─起誓，今天亚多尼雅必被处死！”

亚多尼雅说：“你知道这国位原是我的，以色列众人都希望我作王；不料国位反归了我的弟弟，因为他得着国位是出于耶和华。
