凡有人有世上養生之資，見他弟兄有缺乏，卻向他關閉着憐憫的心腸，愛上帝的心怎能存在他裏面呢？

但如果有人擁有世界的財產，看見自己的弟兄有需要，卻封閉情感，那麼，屬神的愛怎麼能住在他裡面呢？

凡有斯世之財產者、視兄弟匱乏、自塞其矜恤之心、則上帝之愛烏得寓其衷哉、

人有恆產、見兄弟匱乏、而不開誠施與、烏能愛上帝哉、

人若有世之貲財、見兄弟窮乏而不矜恤施與、焉得謂之存愛天主之心乎、焉得謂之存愛天主之心乎原文作則天主之愛豈存於其內乎○

若有人擁有斯世之財富、見其兄弟有急、而閉塞其同情之心、則安得有天主之愛德、存於其衷乎。

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?

Suppose someone sees a brother or sister in need and is able to help them. And suppose that person doesn’t take pity on these needy people. Then how can the love of God be in that person?

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?

If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion— how can God’s love be in that person?

If anyone has this world’s goods and sees a fellow believer in need but withholds compassion from him— how does God’s love reside in him?

But whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God remain in him?

But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

But whoso hath the world’s goods, and beholdeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his compassion from him, how doth the love of God abide in him?

If anyone has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need but closes his eyes to his need— how can God’s love reside in him?

But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels[ of compassion] from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

But whoever has the world’s possessions and sees his fellow Christian in need and shuts off his compassion against him, how can the love of God reside in such a person?

But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. (niv)

John answered,“ Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.” (niv)

Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.“ If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk,and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. (niv)

The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. (niv)

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. (niv)
