然此諸權、我悉未用、且我書此、非欲爾如是以待我、我寧死、不可使我所誇者歸於虛、

顧我本人迄未利用此制；吾之書此、亦非欲為己有所主張。何則、我寧死、不願人毀我之榮也。

But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me, for I would rather die than allow anyone to deprive me of this boast.

For my part I have used none of these rights, nor have I written these things that they may be applied in my case. For it would be better for me to die than for anyone to deprive me of my boast!

我在你們那裏缺乏的時候，並沒有累着你們一個人；因我所缺乏的，那從馬其頓來的弟兄們都補足了。我向來凡事謹守，後來也必謹守，總不至於累着你們。既有基督的誠實在我裏面，就無人能在亞該亞一帶地方阻擋我這自誇。為甚麼呢？是因我不愛你們嗎？這有神知道。我現在所做的，後來還要做，為要斷絕那些尋機會人的機會，使他們在所誇的事上也不過與我們一樣。

若別人在你們身上有這權柄，何況我們呢？然而，我們沒有用過這權柄，倒凡事忍受，免得基督的福音被阻隔。

也未嘗白吃人的飯，倒是辛苦勞碌，晝夜做工，免得叫你們一人受累。

他們本是製造帳棚為業。保羅因與他們同業，就和他們同住做工。

弟兄們，你們記念我們的辛苦勞碌，晝夜做工，傳神的福音給你們，免得叫你們一人受累。

我這兩隻手常供給我和同人的需用，這是你們自己知道的。

並且勞苦，親手做工。被人咒罵，我們就祝福；被人逼迫，我們就忍受；

「凡使這信我的一個小子跌倒的，倒不如把大磨石拴在這人的頸項上，沉在深海裏。

除了我不累着你們這一件事，你們還有甚麼事不及別的教會呢？這不公之處，求你們饒恕我吧。如今，我打算第三次到你們那裏去，也必不累着你們；因我所求的是你們，不是你們的財物。兒女不該為父母積財，父母該為兒女積財。我也甘心樂意為你們的靈魂費財費力。難道我越發愛你們，就越發少得你們的愛嗎？罷了，我自己並沒有累着你們，你們卻有人說，我是詭詐，用心計牢籠你們。我所差到你們那裏去的人，我藉着他們一個人佔過你們的便宜嗎？我勸了提多到你們那裏去，又差那位兄弟與他同去。提多佔過你們的便宜嗎？我們行事，不同是一個心靈嗎？不同是一個腳蹤嗎？

掃羅卻殘害教會，進各人的家，拉着男女下在監裏。

我卻不以性命為念，也不看為寶貴，只要行完我的路程，成就我從主耶穌所領受的職事，證明神恩惠的福音。

照着我所切慕、所盼望的，沒有一事叫我羞愧。只要凡事放膽，無論是生是死，總叫基督在我身上照常顯大。因我活着就是基督，我死了就有益處。但我在肉身活着，若成就我工夫的果子，我就不知道該挑選甚麼。我正在兩難之間，情願離世與基督同在，因為這是好得無比的。
