用世物的，要像不用世物，因为这世界的样子将要过去了。

享受这世界的，不像在享受这世界；因为这世界的局面将要过去了。

享用世界之物的，不要沉溺其中，因为现今的世界很快就要过去了。

享用世上百物的要像没有享用的一样，因为这世上的情况都要过去。

利用世界的，要像没有充分利用世界的；因为这世界的形态正在消逝。

those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.

Those who use the things of the world should not become all wrapped up in them. The world as it now exists is passing away.

and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away.

Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away.

and those who use the world as though they did not make full use of it. For this world in its current form is passing away.

and those who use the world, as though they did not make full use of it; for the present form of this world is passing away.

and those who use this world as not misusing it. For the form of this world is passing away.

and those that use the world, as not using it to the full: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (niv)

I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil— this is the gift of God. (niv)

What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not make full use of my rights as a preacher of the gospel. (niv)

“ Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them.To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more.So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more.But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.“ After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five.‘ Master,’ he said,‘ you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’“ His master replied,‘ Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’“ The man with two bags of gold also came.‘ Master,’ he said,‘ you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’“ His master replied,‘ Well done, good and faithful servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.“‘ So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags.For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. (niv)

“‘ Well done, my good servant!’ his master replied.‘ Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.’“ The second came and said,‘ Sir, your mina has earned five more.’“ His master answered,‘ You take charge of five cities.’“ Then another servant came and said,‘ Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth.I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.’“ His master replied,‘ I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow?Why then didn’t you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?’“ Then he said to those standing by,‘ Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.’“‘ Sir,’ they said,‘ he already has ten!’“ He replied,‘ I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away. Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. (niv)

But the rich should take pride in their humiliation— since they will pass away like a wild flower.For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business. (niv)

This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them— for this is their lot.Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil— this is a gift of God.They seldom reflect on the days of their life, because God keeps them occupied with gladness of heart. Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land. (niv)

Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. (niv)

But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself,‘ My master is staying away a long time,’and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. (niv)

Jesus told his disciples:“ There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions.So he called him in and asked him,‘ What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.’ (niv)

They are like a dream when one awakes; when you arise, Lord, you will despise them as fantasies. (niv)

A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God,for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? (niv)

You who are young, be happy while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless. (niv)
