眾人聽見死人復活的話，就有人譏誚他；又有人說：「我們會再聽你講這事。」

他們偏離了真理，說復活的事已過去，敗壞了好些人的信心。

神使死人復活，你們為甚麼判斷為不可信呢？

因為撒都該人一方面說沒有復活，另一方面沒有天使和鬼魂；法利賽人卻承認兩方面都有。

若沒有死人復活的事，基督就沒有復活了。基督若沒有復活，我們所傳的就是枉然，你們所信的也是枉然。這樣，我們甚至被當作是為神妄作見證的，因為我們見證神是使基督復活了。如果死人真的沒有復活，神就沒有使基督復活了。因為死人若不復活，基督也就沒有復活了。基督若沒有復活，你們的信就是徒然，你們仍活在罪裏。就是在基督裏睡了的人也滅亡了。我們若靠基督只在今生有指望，就比所有的人更可憐了。
