Hereby perceive we the love[ of God], because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down[ our] lives for the brethren.But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels[ of compassion] from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all[ men].

The desire of a man[ is] his kindness: and a poor man[ is] better than a liar.

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.This wisdom descendeth not from above, but[ is] earthly, sensual, devilish.For where envying and strife[ is], there[ is] confusion and every evil work.But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle,[ and] easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,

Finally,[ be ye] all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren,[ be] pitiful,[ be] courteous:

Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

Better[ is] the end of a thing than the beginning thereof:[ and] the patient in spirit[ is] better than the proud in spirit.Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and[ to] the evil.Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and[ to] Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think[ of men] above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue[ is] the law of kindness.

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou[ art] a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.

In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

The beginning of strife[ is as] when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.

For ye are yet carnal: for whereas[ there is] among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised[ is] wisdom.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful,[ and] hating one another.

If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offences.

Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

His ways are always grievous; thy judgments[ are] far above out of his sight:[ as for] all his enemies, he puffeth at them.

And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego:[ therefore] he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.And he commanded the most mighty men that[ were] in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,[ and] to cast[ them] into the burning fiery furnace.Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their[ other] garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

And blessed[ be] thy advice, and blessed[ be] thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to[ shed] blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.For in very deed,[ as] the LORD God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.

And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.

Go not forth hastily to strive, lest[ thou know not] what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.Debate thy cause with thy neighbour[ himself]; and discover not a secret to another:Lest he that heareth[ it] put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.

Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this[ fellow] hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that[ pertained] unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good.So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that[ pertain] to him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.

And Benhadad sent unto him, and said, The gods do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell[ him], Let not him that girdeth on[ his harness] boast himself as he that putteth it off.

For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.

Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
