Suppose I speak in the languages of human beings or of angels. If I don’t have love, I am only a loud gong or a noisy cymbal.

我若能说万人的方言，并天使的话语，却没有爱，我就成了鸣的锣，响的钹一般。

我若能说人间的方言，甚至天使的语言，却没有爱，我就成为鸣的锣、响的钹一般。

即使我能说人类和天使的各种语言，如果没有爱，我不过像咣咣作响的锣和钹。

如果我能说人间和天使的各种殊言，却没有爱，我就成了嘈杂的锣、鸣响的钹；

我若能說萬人的方言，並天使的話語，卻沒有愛，我就成了鳴的鑼，響的鈸一般。

我若能說人間的方言，甚至天使的語言，卻沒有愛，我就成為鳴的鑼、響的鈸一般。

我若能說人間的方言，甚至天使的語言，卻沒有愛，我就成為鳴的鑼、響的鈸一般。

即使我能說人類和天使的各種語言，如果沒有愛，我不過像咣咣作響的鑼和鈸。

我若能說世人和天使的方言，卻沒有愛，我就成了鳴的鑼、響的鈸一樣。

假使我用人之捲舌頭說話、甚至於用天使的語言來說話，卻沒有愛，我就成了鳴的鑼響的鈸一般。

如果我能說人間和天使的各種殊言，卻沒有愛，我就成了嘈雜的鑼、鳴響的鈸；

我若能言諸國諸天使之言而無愛、則猶鳴金響鈸、

我如能言諸國方言、與天使之言、而無仁、則猶鳴金敲鈸、

我雖能言世人及天使之言、若無愛、則如鳴鉦響鈸、

使我無愛德、而徒能操萬國之音、作天神之語、則猶鳴鑼擊鈸而已矣。

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

If I speak with the tongues of mankind and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

Love is the purpose of my command. Love comes from a pure heart. It comes from a good sense of what is right and wrong. It comes from faith that is honest and true.

Most of all, love one another deeply. Love erases many sins by forgiving them.

But the fruit the Holy Spirit produces is love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful

Suppose I have the gift of prophecy. Suppose I can understand all the secret things of God and know everything about him. And suppose I have enough faith to move mountains. If I don’t have love, I am nothing at all.Suppose I give everything I have to poor people. And suppose I give myself over to a difficult life so I can brag. If I don’t have love, I get nothing at all.

Love never fails. But prophecy will pass away. Speaking in languages that had not been known before will end. And knowledge will pass away.

Circumcision and uncircumcision aren’t worth anything to those who believe in Christ Jesus. The only thing that really counts is faith that shows itself through love.

Now I want to deal with food sacrificed to statues of gods. We know that“ We all have knowledge.” But knowledge makes people proud, while love builds them up.

Brothers and sisters, suppose I were to come to you and speak in other languages. What good would I be to you? None! I would need to come with new truth or knowledge. Or I would need to come with a prophecy or a teaching.Here are some examples. Certain objects make sounds. Take a flute or a harp. No one will know what the tune is unless different notes are played.Also, if the trumpet call isn’t clear, who will get ready for battle?

They speak empty, bragging words. They make their appeal to the evil desires that come from sin’s power. They tempt new believers who are just escaping from the company of sinful people.

“ He will reply,‘ What I’m about to tell you is true. Anything you didn’t do for one of the least important of these, you didn’t do for me.’

Is everyone an apostle? Is everyone a prophet? Is everyone a teacher? Do all work miracles?Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in languages they had not known before? Do all explain what is said in those languages?

To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge.

Your brother or sister may be upset by what you eat. If they are, you are no longer acting as though you love them. So don’t destroy them by what you eat. Remember that Christ died for them.

he was taken up to paradise. He heard things there that couldn’t be put into words. They were things that no one is allowed to talk about.

And suppose the ear says,“ I am not an eye. So I don’t belong to the body.” By saying this, it cannot stop being part of the body.
