Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.

Everyone should take a careful look at themselves before they eat the bread and drink from the cup.

I have walked in your truth.I have not sat with deceitful men, neither will I go in with hypocrites.I hate the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.I will wash my hands in innocence, so I will go about your altar, Yahweh,that I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard and tell of all your wondrous deeds.

Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to Yahweh.

Now therefore this is what Yahweh of Armies says: Consider your ways.

“ If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

“ Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying,‘ When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month for these seventy years, did you at all fast to me, really to me?When you eat, and when you drink, don’t you eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?Aren’t these the words which Yahweh proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities around her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?’”

This is what Yahweh of Armies says:“ Consider your ways.

“ Say to the children of Israel,‘ If any man of you or of your generations is unclean by reason of a dead body, or is on a journey far away, he shall still keep the Passover to Yahweh.In the second month, on the fourteenth day at evening they shall keep it; they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.They shall leave none of it until the morning, nor break a bone of it. According to all the statute of the Passover they shall keep it.But the man who is clean, and is not on a journey, and fails to keep the Passover, that soul shall be cut off from his people. Because he didn’t offer the offering of Yahweh in its appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.

For if we discerned ourselves, we wouldn’t be judged.

because if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.Beloved, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have boldness toward God;
