  • Romans 11:33-36
Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!“ For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?”“ Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?”For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
  • 1 Corinthians 1 27-1 Corinthians 1 29
But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are,so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
  • Zechariah 12:7-8
“ And the Lord will give salvation to the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not surpass that of Judah. On that day the Lord will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them on that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the angel of the Lord, going before them.
  • Judges 7:2-8
The Lord said to Gideon,“ The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying,‘ My own hand has saved me.’Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying,‘ Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return home and hurry away from Mount Gilead.’” Then 22,000 of the people returned, and 10,000 remained. And the Lord said to Gideon,“ The people are still too many. Take them down to the water, and I will test them for you there, and anyone of whom I say to you,‘ This one shall go with you,’ shall go with you, and anyone of whom I say to you,‘ This one shall not go with you,’ shall not go.”So he brought the people down to the water. And the Lord said to Gideon,“ Every one who laps the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, you shall set by himself. Likewise, every one who kneels down to drink.”And the number of those who lapped, putting their hands to their mouths, was 300 men, but all the rest of the people knelt down to drink water. And the Lord said to Gideon,“ With the 300 men who lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hand, and let all the others go every man to his home.”So the people took provisions in their hands, and their trumpets. And he sent all the rest of Israel every man to his tent, but retained the 300 men. And the camp of Midian was below him in the valley.

Then he took his staff in his hand and chose five smooth stones from the brook and put them in his shepherd’s pouch. His sling was in his hand, and he approached the Philistine. And the Philistine moved forward and came near to David, with his shield-bearer in front of him.And when the Philistine looked and saw David, he disdained him, for he was but a youth, ruddy and handsome in appearance. And the Philistine said to David,“ Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. The Philistine said to David,“ Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the field.”Then David said to the Philistine,“ You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hand.”When the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. There was no sword in the hand of David. Then David ran and stood over the Philistine and took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.

And Ben-hadad sent out scouts, and they reported to him,“ Men are coming out from Samaria.”He said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive. Or if they have come out for war, take them alive.”So these went out of the city, the servants of the governors of the districts and the army that followed them. And each struck down his man. The Syrians fled, and Israel pursued them, but Ben-hadad king of Syria escaped on a horse with horsemen. And the king of Israel went out and struck the horses and chariots, and struck the Syrians with a great blow. Then the prophet came near to the king of Israel and said to him,“ Come, strengthen yourself, and consider well what you have to do, for in the spring the king of Syria will come up against you.”
