凡無知愚昧之辯、徒滋口角、慎莫為之。為主之僕、豈宜耳紅面赤、與人爭論；惟當和氣迎人、循循善誘、寬裕溫柔、足以有容。即欲規人之過、亦須平心靜氣、委宛言之、庶幾天主啟牖其衷、俾得領悟大道、

拜偶像、行巫術、仇恨爭競、好勝忿怒朋比釁隙、

蓋吾深恐爾我相見之時、爾不能副我之望、我亦不能副爾之望；又恐爾中有鬥爭、嫉妒、忿怒、樹黨、誹謗、隱刺、傲慢、紛亂等事；

聞爾等聚會時、彼此之間、分別黨派、議論紛紜。我亦略信此言；

故任作何事、勿存怨尤、毋滋紛爭、
