All this continued until the sacrifice of the burnt offering was completed.When the offerings were finished, the king and everyone present with him knelt down and worshiped.King Hezekiah and his officials ordered the Levites to praise the Lord with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. Obed-Edom son of Jeduthun, and also Hosah, were gatekeepers.David left Zadok the priest and his fellow priests before the tabernacle of the Lord at the high place in Gibeonto present burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of burnt offering regularly, morning and evening, in accordance with everything written in the Law of the Lord, which he had given Israel.With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the Lord,“ for his love endures forever.”Heman and Jeduthun were responsible for the sounding of the trumpets and cymbals and for the playing of the other instruments for sacred song. They performed the service of their God and the service of purification, as did also the musicians and gatekeepers, according to the commands of David and his son Solomon.For long ago, in the days of David and Asaph, there had been directors for the musicians and for the songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.So in the days of Zerubbabel and of Nehemiah, all Israel contributed the daily portions for the musicians and the gatekeepers. The priests then brought the ark of the Lord’s covenant to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, and put it beneath the wings of the cherubim.The cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark and overshadowed the ark and its carrying poles.These poles were so long that their ends could be seen from the Holy Place in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are still there today.There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt.When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord.And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple.Then Solomon said,“ The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud;I have indeed built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.” (niv)

Uzzi was one of Asaph’s descendants, who were the musicians responsible for the service of the house of God.The musicians were under the king’s orders, which regulated their daily activity. (niv)
