Pul, the king of Assyria, came against the land, and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver so that his hand might be with him to strengthen the kingdom under his rule.

In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and led the people of Israel into exile to Assyria, and settled them in Halah and Habor, on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath pileser the king of Assyria came and took Ijon, Abel beth maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he led their populations into exile to Assyria.

Then the king of Assyria led Israel into exile to Assyria, and put them in Halah and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

Lift up a flag on the bare hill, Raise your voice to them, Wave the hand that they may enter the doors of the nobles.I have commanded My consecrated ones, I have also called for My warriors Who boast in My eminence, To execute My anger.A sound of a roar on the mountains, Like that of many people! A sound of an uproar of kingdoms, Of nations gathered together! The Lord of armies is mustering the army for battle.They are coming from a distant country, From the farthest horizons, The Lord and the weapons of His indignation, To destroy the whole land.

Now the anger of the Lord burned against Israel again, and He incited David against them to say,“ Go, count Israel and Judah.”

Did the gods of the nations which my fathers destroyed save them: Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the sons of Eden who were in Telassar?

So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath pileser king of Assyria, saying,“ I am your servant and your son; come up and save me from the hand of the king of Aram, and from the hand of the king of Israel, who are rising up against me.”

Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger And the staff in whose hands is My indignation,I send it against a godless nation And commission it against the people of My fury To capture spoils and to seize plunder, And to trample them down like mud in the streets.

Then the heads of fathers’ households of Judah and Benjamin and the priests and the Levites rose up, everyone whose spirit God had stirred to go up to rebuild the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem.

Therefore the Lord brought the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria against them, and they captured Manasseh with hooks, bound him with bronze chains, and led him to Babylon.
