The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel( he was the firstborn, but when he defiled his father’s marriage bed, his rights as firstborn were given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel; so he could not be listed in the genealogical record in accordance with his birthright,

Reuben was the oldest son of Israel. But he slept with his father’s concubine. By doing that, he made his father’s bed“ unclean.” That’s why his rights as the oldest son were given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel. So Reuben isn’t listed in the family history as the one who had the rights of the oldest son.

以色列祝福约瑟说：“愿我祖父亚伯拉罕和我父以撒所跟随的神，就是牧养我一生直到今日的神，也是救赎我脱离一切祸患的那一位，祝福这两个孩子！愿我的名，我祖父亚伯拉罕和我父以撒的名，藉着他们得以流传；愿他们在地上生养众多。”约瑟见父亲把右手按在以法莲的头上，就觉得不对，于是抓着父亲的手，要从以法莲的头上移到玛拿西的头上。约瑟对他父亲说：“我的父亲哪，这样不对！这一个才是长子，你要把右手放在他的头上。”他父亲却拒绝他，说：“我知道，我儿，我知道！他也要成为一族，也必昌大；只是他的弟弟将来比他还要昌大，他弟弟的后裔必成为多国。”以色列当天就祝福他们，说：“以色列人要用你们的名说祝福的话：‘愿神使你像以法莲和玛拿西一样。’”这样他把以法莲立在玛拿西之先。以色列对约瑟说：“看哪，我就要死了！但神必与你们同在，把你们带回到你们祖先之地。我还要使你比众兄弟多得一块山地，就是我曾经用刀用弓从亚摩利人手中夺过来的。”

鲁本哪，你是我的长子；你是我的力量，我强壮时头生的；尊荣出众、权力出众；你却放纵如水，必不再出众；因为你上了你父亲的床，把床玷污了。他居然上了我的床铺！

耶和华对她说：“两国在你的腹中，两族将从你里面分出来；一族要比另一族强，将来大的要服事小的。”

来到埃及的以色列人，就是雅各和他的子孙——他们的名字如下：雅各的长子鲁本，

爱子是那不可见之神的形像，是一切被造之物的长子，

他们到的时候，撒母耳看见以利押，就想：“在耶和华面前的这个人，一定是他的受膏者。”但耶和华对撒母耳说：“不要看他的容貌和他的高大身材，其实我已经厌弃了他。因为我所看的不像人所看的；人是看眼所见的，耶和华是看内心。”耶西叫来亚比拿达，让他从撒母耳面前经过，撒母耳说：“耶和华也没有拣选这人。”耶西让沙玛经过，撒母耳说：“耶和华也没有拣选这人。”耶西让他的七个儿子都从撒母耳面前经过，撒母耳对耶西说：“耶和华没有拣选这些人。”撒母耳问耶西：“孩子们全来了吗？”耶西回答：“还剩下最小的那个，看哪，他正在放羊。”撒母耳对耶西说：“派人去把他带来，在他来到之前，我们不会入席。”

到处都有消息说你们中间有淫乱，并且这样的淫乱连外邦人中也没有——竟然有人与他的继母同居。
