He gave him instructions for the divisions of the priests and Levites, and for all the work of serving in the temple of the Lord, as well as for all the articles to be used in its service.

David told Solomon how to separate the priests and Levites into groups. He gave him directions for all the work they should do when they served in the Lord’ s temple. David also showed Solomon how all the objects should be used at the temple.

for the divisions of the priests and of the Levites, and all the work of the service in the house of the Lord; for all the vessels for the service in the house of the Lord,

The king also gave Solomon the instructions concerning the work of the various divisions of priests and Levites in the Temple of the Lord. And he gave specifications for the items in the Temple that were to be used for worship.

Also included were plans for the divisions of the priests and the Levites; all the work of service in the LORD’s house; all the articles of service of the LORD’s house;

also for the divisions of the priests and the Levites and for all the work of the service of the house of the Lord and for all the utensils of service in the house of the Lord;

also for the division of the priests and the Levites, for all the work of the service of the house of the Lord, and for all the articles of service in the house of the Lord.

also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of Jehovah, and for all the vessels of service in the house of Jehovah;

He gave him the regulations for the divisions of priests and Levites, for all the assigned responsibilities within the LORD’s temple, and for all the items used in the service of the LORD’s temple.

And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi,[ namely], Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

Now[ these are] the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest’s office.And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service.And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and[ thus] were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar[ there were] sixteen chief men of the house of[ their] fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers.Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors[ of the house] of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.And Shemaiah the son of Nethaneel the scribe,[ one] of the Levites, wrote them before the king, and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and[ before] the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites: one principal household being taken for Eleazar, and[ one] taken for Ithamar.Now the first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,The third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim,The fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin,The seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,The ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah,The eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim,The thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab,The fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,The seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Aphses,The nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezekel,The one and twentieth to Jachin, the two and twentieth to Gamul,The three and twentieth to Delaiah, the four and twentieth to Maaziah.These[ were] the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.

Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him[ was] Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them[ was] Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;

And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels,[ even] the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel[ there] present, had offered:I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents,[ and] of gold an hundred talents;Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.And I said unto them, Ye[ are] holy unto the LORD; the vessels[ are] holy also; and the silver and the gold[ are] a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers.Watch ye, and keep[ them], until ye weigh[ them] before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring[ them] to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.

Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king.Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD.Of Heman: the sons of Heman; Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir,[ and] Mahazioth:All these[ were] the sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.All these[ were] under the hands of their father for song[ in] the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king’s order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the LORD,[ even] all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.And they cast lots, ward against[ ward], as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar.Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah, who with his brethren and sons[ were] twelve:The third to Zaccur,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The fourth to Izri,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The fifth to Nethaniah,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The sixth to Bukkiah,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The seventh to Jesharelah,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The eighth to Jeshaiah,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The ninth to Mattaniah,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The tenth to Shimei,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The eleventh to Azareel,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The twelfth to Hashabiah,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The thirteenth to Shubael,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The fourteenth to Mattithiah,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The fifteenth to Jeremoth,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The sixteenth to Hananiah,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The seventeenth to Joshbekashah,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The eighteenth to Hanani,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The nineteenth to Mallothi,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The twentieth to Eliathah,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The one and twentieth to Hothir,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The two and twentieth to Giddalti,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The three and twentieth to Mahazioth,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve:The four and twentieth to Romamtiezer,[ he], his sons, and his brethren,[ were] twelve.

But Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he finished all his house.He built also the house of the forest of Lebanon; the length thereof[ was] an hundred cubits, and the breadth thereof fifty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits, upon four rows of cedar pillars, with cedar beams upon the pillars.And[ it was] covered with cedar above upon the beams, that[ lay] on forty five pillars, fifteen[ in] a row.And[ there were] windows[ in] three rows, and light[ was] against light[ in] three ranks.And all the doors and posts[ were] square, with the windows: and light[ was] against light[ in] three ranks.And he made a porch of pillars; the length thereof[ was] fifty cubits, and the breadth thereof thirty cubits: and the porch[ was] before them: and the[ other] pillars and the thick beam[ were] before them.Then he made a porch for the throne where he might judge,[ even] the porch of judgment: and[ it was] covered with cedar from one side of the floor to the other.And his house where he dwelt[ had] another court within the porch,[ which] was of the like work. Solomon made also an house for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had taken[ to wife], like unto this porch.All these[ were of] costly stones, according to the measures of hewed stones, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and[ so] on the outside toward the great court.And the foundation[ was of] costly stones, even great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits.And above[ were] costly stones, after the measures of hewed stones, and cedars.And the great court round about[ was] with three rows of hewed stones, and a row of cedar beams, both for the inner court of the house of the LORD, and for the porch of the house.And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.He[ was] a widow’s son of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father[ was] a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work.For he cast two pillars of brass, of eighteen cubits high apiece: and a line of twelve cubits did compass either of them about.And he made two chapiters[ of] molten brass, to set upon the tops of the pillars: the height of the one chapiter[ was] five cubits, and the height of the other chapiter[ was] five cubits:[ And] nets of checker work, and wreaths of chain work, for the chapiters which[ were] upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the other chapiter.And he made the pillars, and two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the chapiters that[ were] upon the top, with pomegranates: and so did he for the other chapiter.And the chapiters that[ were] upon the top of the pillars[ were] of lily work in the porch, four cubits.And the chapiters upon the two pillars[ had pomegranates] also above, over against the belly which[ was] by the network: and the pomegranates[ were] two hundred in rows round about upon the other chapiter.And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz.And upon the top of the pillars[ was] lily work: so was the work of the pillars finished.And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other:[ it was] round all about, and his height[ was] five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.And under the brim of it round about[ there were] knops compassing it, ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about: the knops[ were] cast in two rows, when it was cast.It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea[ was set] above upon them, and all their hinder parts[ were] inward.And it[ was] an hand breadth thick, and the brim thereof was wrought like the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies: it contained two thousand baths.And he made ten bases of brass; four cubits[ was] the length of one base, and four cubits the breadth thereof, and three cubits the height of it.And the work of the bases[ was] on this[ manner]: they had borders, and the borders[ were] between the ledges:And on the borders that[ were] between the ledges[ were] lions, oxen, and cherubims: and upon the ledges[ there was] a base above: and beneath the lions and oxen[ were] certain additions made of thin work.And every base had four brasen wheels, and plates of brass: and the four corners thereof had undersetters: under the laver[ were] undersetters molten, at the side of every addition.And the mouth of it within the chapiter and above[ was] a cubit: but the mouth thereof[ was] round[ after] the work of the base, a cubit and an half: and also upon the mouth of it[ were] gravings with their borders, foursquare, not round.And under the borders[ were] four wheels; and the axletrees of the wheels[ were joined] to the base: and the height of a wheel[ was] a cubit and half a cubit.And the work of the wheels[ was] like the work of a chariot wheel: their axletrees, and their naves, and their felloes, and their spokes,[ were] all molten.And[ there were] four undersetters to the four corners of one base:[ and] the undersetters[ were] of the very base itself.And in the top of the base[ was there] a round compass of half a cubit high: and on the top of the base the ledges thereof and the borders thereof[ were] of the same.For on the plates of the ledges thereof, and on the borders thereof, he graved cherubims, lions, and palm trees, according to the proportion of every one, and additions round about.After this[ manner] he made the ten bases: all of them had one casting, one measure,[ and] one size.Then made he ten lavers of brass: one laver contained forty baths:[ and] every laver was four cubits:[ and] upon every one of the ten bases one laver.And he put five bases on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house: and he set the sea on the right side of the house eastward over against the south.And Hiram made the lavers, and the shovels, and the basons. So Hiram made an end of doing all the work that he made king Solomon for the house of the LORD:The two pillars, and the[ two] bowls of the chapiters that[ were] on the top of the two pillars; and the two networks, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters which[ were] upon the top of the pillars;And four hundred pomegranates for the two networks,[ even] two rows of pomegranates for one network, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that[ were] upon the pillars;And the ten bases, and ten lavers on the bases;And one sea, and twelve oxen under the sea;And the pots, and the shovels, and the basons: and all these vessels, which Hiram made to king Solomon for the house of the LORD,[ were of] bright brass.In the plain of Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zarthan.And Solomon left all the vessels[ unweighed], because they were exceeding many: neither was the weight of the brass found out.And Solomon made all the vessels that[ pertained] unto the house of the LORD: the altar of gold, and the table of gold, whereupon the shewbread[ was],And the candlesticks of pure gold, five on the right[ side], and five on the left, before the oracle, with the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs[ of] gold,And the bowls, and the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers[ of] pure gold; and the hinges[ of] gold,[ both] for the doors of the inner house, the most holy[ place, and] for the doors of the house,[ to wit], of the temple.So was ended all the work that king Solomon made for the house of the LORD. And Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated;[ even] the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, did he put among the treasures of the house of the LORD.

[ Some] of them also[ were] appointed to oversee the vessels, and all the instruments of the sanctuary, and the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices.
