May the Lord give you discretion and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.

May the Lord give you good sense. May he give you understanding when he makes you king over Israel. Then you will keep the law of the Lord your God.

Only, may the Lord grant you discretion and understanding, that when he gives you charge over Israel you may keep the law of the Lord your God.

And may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, that you may obey the Law of the Lord your God as you rule over Israel.

現在，求你賜我智慧聰明，好在這百姓面前出入；不然，誰能判斷你這麼多的百姓呢？」

通達人的智慧使他認清自己的道路；愚昧人的愚昧卻是自欺。

你們中間若有缺少智慧的，該求那厚賜與眾人又不斥責人的神，神必賜給他。

因為耶和華賞賜智慧，知識和聰明都由他口而出。他為正直人珍藏健全的知識，給行為純正的人作盾牌，

神啊，求你將你的公平賜給王，將你的公義賜給王的兒子。

因為我必賜你們口才和智慧，是你們一切敵人所敵不住、駁不倒的。

我們若遵守神的命令，就知道我們確實認識他。

所羅門王在法老的女兒之外，又寵愛許多外邦女子，就是摩押女子、亞捫女子、以東女子、西頓女子、赫人女子。論到這些國的人，耶和華曾吩咐以色列人說：「你們不可跟他們通婚，他們也不可跟你們在一起，因為他們一定會誘惑你們的心去隨從他們的神明。」所羅門卻為了愛，緊緊跟從他們。所羅門娶七百個公主，三百個妃嬪。這些妻妾誘惑他的心。所羅門年老的時候，他的妻妾誘惑他的心去隨從別神，不像他父親大衛以純正的心順服耶和華－他的神。所羅門隨從西頓人的女神亞斯她錄和亞捫人可憎的米勒公。所羅門行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，不像他父親大衛專心順從耶和華。那時，所羅門為摩押可憎的基抹和亞捫人可憎的摩洛，在耶路撒冷對面的山上建造丘壇。他為所有的妻妾，就是那些向自己神明燒香獻祭的外邦女子，也是這樣做。耶和華向所羅門發怒，因為他的心偏離了向他顯現兩次的耶和華－以色列的神。耶和華曾吩咐他這件事，不可隨從別神，他卻沒有遵守耶和華所吩咐的。

你們要謹守遵行；這就是你們在萬民眼前的智慧和聰明。他們聽見這一切律例，必說：『這大國的人真是有智慧，有聰明！』
