大闢告約押、與民長曰、往核以色列民數、自但至別是巴、反而告我。

大卫就吩咐约押和民中的首领说：“你们去数点以色列人，从别是巴直到但，回来告诉我，我好知道他们的数目。”

大卫对约押和其他军中的首领说：“你们要走遍以色列，从别示巴一直到但，统计以色列的人口，然后回来禀告我，我好知道他们的数目。”

于是大卫对约押和民众的领袖说：“你们去数点以色列人，从别是巴直到但，然后回来见我，让我知道他们的数目。”

於是大衛對約押和眾民的首領說：『你們去數點以色列人、從別是巴直到但，把結果帶來給我，我好知道他們的數目。』

So David said to Joab and the commanders of the troops,“ Go and count the Israelites from Beersheba to Dan. Then report back to me so that I may know how many there are.”

So David said to Joab and the commanders of the troops,“ Go! Count the men of Israel from Beersheba all the way to Dan. Report back to me. Then I’ll know how many there are.”

So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army,“ Go, number Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, and bring me a report, that I may know their number.”

So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army,“ Take a census of all the people of Israel— from Beersheba in the south to Dan in the north— and bring me a report so I may know how many there are.”

So David said to Joab and the commanders of the troops,“ Go and count Israel from Beer-sheba to Dan and bring a report to me so I can know their number.”

So David said to Joab and to the leaders of the people,“ Go, count Israel from Beersheba to Dan, and bring me word so that I may know their number.”

So David said to Joab and to the leaders of the people,“ Go, number Israel from Beersheba to Dan, and bring the number of them to me that I may know it.”

And David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, Go, number Israel from Beer- sheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know the sum of them.

So David said to Joab and the commanders of the troops,“ Go and count Israel from Beer-sheba to Dan and bring a report to me so I can know their number.”

And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know[ it].

David told Joab and the leaders of the army,“ Go, count the number of warriors from Beer Sheba to Dan. Then bring back a report to me so I may know how many we have.”

David said to Joab and to the princes of the people,“ Go, count Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know how many there are.”

耶和華曾有應許、必繁衍以色列族、如天星之多、故二十歲以下者、大闢不核。西魯雅子約押始核斯民、因上帝之震怒、降災於以色列族、故不竣厥事、不載其數於大闢王之籍。

當日清晨、耶和華降疫癘、遍染以色列族、迄至所定之期、自但及別是巴死者七萬。

驕侈必降卑、撝謙必獲榮。

以色列族、自但至別是巴、皆知撒母耳、誠為耶和華所立之先知也。

牛羊蕃息、金銀無數、所有之物、既豐且盛、恐爾驕奢、忘爾之上帝耶和華、昔導爾出埃及、脫爾於賤役、經歷曠野、其境甚廣、其形可畏、在彼有毒蛇、蠍蟲、既至無水之地、則由堅磐出水、以飲爾曹、居於曠野、以爾祖未識之嗎嗱飼爾、使爾自卑、以試爾心、終有裨益。恐爾意謂由己力己能、獲此貨財。

以色列會眾群集、自但至別是巴、與基列地之民、皆至米斯巴、咸懷一心、立於耶和華前。

年久民未循例守禮、故立志普告以色列族、自但及別是巴、使咸至耶路撒冷、守逾越節、奉事以色列族之上帝耶和華。

故我勸爾、集以色列族、自但至別是巴、如海沙之眾多、親往迎戰。

軍長約押侍側王諭之曰、爾遍行以色列族支派、自但至別是巴、核其民數、反而告我。約押告王曰、勿論民數多寡、惟願耶和華爾之上帝、增益百倍、我主我王目擊其事、然我主我王喜於核民、誠何故哉。王意已決、約押及武士長不能違、於是退而核數以色列族、

所羅門在位時、猶大以色列二族、自但及別是巴、各安其居、得蔭於葡萄及無花果樹下。

蓋莫大此默示、恐我自高、故身受刺、任撒但之役擊我、使我不得自高、

希西家不酬斯恩、中心驕泰、於是干上帝震怒、降災於猶大族、耶路撒冷民、嗣後希西家及耶路撒冷民、汰其驕心、卑以自牧、故希西家存日、耶和華不降以災。○
