亞哈聽見這些話，就撕裂衣服，禁食，貼身穿着麻布，也睡在麻布上，沮喪地走來走去。

摩西和亞倫在以色列全會眾面前臉伏於地。

希西家王聽見了，就撕裂衣服，披上麻布，進了耶和華的殿。

以利沙禱告說：「耶和華啊，求你開他的眼目，使他能看見。」耶和華開了這年輕人的眼目，他就看見了，看哪，滿山有火馬和火焰車圍繞以利沙。

至於我，他們有病的時候，我穿麻衣，禁食，刻苦己心；我所求的都歸到自己身上。我如此行，好像他是我的朋友，我的兄弟；我屈身悲哀，如同哀悼自己的母親。

約書亞靠近耶利哥的時候，舉目觀看，看哪，有一個人站在他對面，手裏拿着拔出來的刀。約書亞到他那裏，對他說：「你是屬我們的，還是屬我們敵人的呢？」他說：「不，我現在來是要作耶和華軍隊的元帥。」約書亞就臉伏於地下拜，說：「我主有甚麼話，請吩咐僕人吧！」

這消息傳到尼尼微王那裏，他就從寶座起來，脫下朝服，披上麻布，坐在灰中。他叫人通告尼尼微全城，說：「王和大臣有令，人、畜、牛、羊都不可嘗任何東西，不可吃，也不可喝水。人與牲畜都要披上麻布，切切求告上帝。各人要回轉離開惡道，離棄自己掌中的殘暴。

耶和華上帝把那人趕出去，就在伊甸園東邊安設基路伯和發出火焰轉動的劍，把守生命樹的道路。

耶和華使巴蘭的眼目明亮，他看見耶和華的使者站在路中間，手裏有拔出來的刀；巴蘭就低頭俯伏下拜。
