疏割的首领却说：“你还没有抓到西巴和撒慕拿，我们凭什么给你的军队饼吃？”基甸说：“好吧，耶和华把西巴和撒慕拿交在我们手中后，我必回来用荒野的荆棘抽打你们。”

耶和华啊，你的手必寻索你的敌人，你用右手搜出所有恨你的人。你一出现，他们便像身在火炉中，你在烈怒中吞灭他们，你的烈火烧灭他们。

又把城里的人带出来，让他们从事锯木、耕田、砍树和做砖的工作。他用同样的方式对待亚扪其他城邑的居民。之后，大卫和全军返回耶路撒冷。

强迫他们和泥造砖，并做田间一切的苦工，使他们痛苦不堪。

说完，就捉住城中的长老，用荒野的荆棘抽打他们。他又去拆毁毗努伊勒的城楼，杀了城里的人。

以色列人没能灭绝这些外族人，所罗门让他们服劳役，至今如此。

因此，你们是受咒诅的。你们要永远做奴仆，为我上帝的殿劈柴挑水。”
