上帝激起了一個敵擋所羅門的人，就是以利亞大的兒子利遜；曾經從他主上瑣巴王哈大底謝那裏逃走而來的。大衛殺死瑣巴人的時候，利遜招聚了一些人，自己做遊擊隊的首領，攻取大馬色，住在那裏，在大馬色作王。

以色列王亞哈問猶大王約沙法說：『你要和我一同上基列的拉末去麼？』他回答他說：『你我不分彼此：我的人民就等於你的人民；我要同你在一起去參戰。』

以色列王和猶大王約沙法坐在撒瑪利亞城門出入處的廣場上，各穿着朝服，坐在位上；所有的神言人都在他們面前發神言狂。

就對他們說：『願永恆主鑒察你們，審判你們，因為你們使我們的香氣在法老和他臣僕面前都發臭了，你們把刀遞在他們手中來殺我們。』

所以那棄絕這囑咐的不是棄絕人，乃是棄絕上帝，那賜他的聖靈給你們、的上帝。

於是亞撒從永恆主之殿和王宮的府庫裏拿出金銀來，送給住大馬色的亞蘭王便哈達，說：『你我之間必須有個約，像你父親與我父親之間也有個約；看哪，我將金銀送給你；求你去廢棄你同以色列王巴沙所立的約，使他離開我。』

他們都偏離正路，一概被染污；沒有人行善，連一個也沒有。

亞吉信了大衛，心裏說：『他已經使自己在以色列中、在自己的族人中、有了大臭名，他必永遠做我的臣僕了。』
