我簡閱之、遂告世職、諸伯、及餘民、曰、主至大可畏、爾當念之、毋恐懼、實為爾妻孥兄弟家室、而有是役、

凡爾世人、當毅然賴耶和華兮、耶和華必強乃志、宜賴耶和華兮。

約書亞告之曰、毋恐懼、毋畏葸、強乃志、壯乃心、蓋耶和華將伐爾敵、俱必如是。

爾當理此事、強厥志、我為扶翼。

王曰、西魯雅之子我與爾何與、耶和華使之詛大闢、誰能禦之、聽其咒詛可也。又告亞庇篩與臣僕曰、我所生之子、尚欲害我命、況此便雅憫人乎。耶和華使詛而我容之。

儆醒也、貞信也、剛健如丈夫也、

大闢謂掃羅曰、勿為此人喪膽、僕敢前往、與非利士人戰。

約百不犯罪、不非上帝如此。

以色列族曰、我已犯罪、任爾譴責、惟祈今日得救為幸。

如我不見悅於耶和華、則任其意而行。

約拿單謂持兵之少者曰、敵不受割禮、盍適彼汛、庶幾耶和華祐我、蓋耶和華欲援我民、眾寡俱可用也。持兵之士曰、盍往哉、爾所欲為、任意以行、我與爾有同心焉。約拿單曰、我儕二人由此至彼、使彼觀瞻。如彼曰、爾曹勿動、以俟我至。則我仍駐於己所、不往迎之。如彼曰、爾可來此、我則前往、耶和華將以之付於我手、此可為徵。二人遂出、使非利士人觀瞻。非利士人曰、希百來人素匿於巢穴、今已出矣。汛人告於約拿單及其持兵之士曰、爾可至此、我將示爾一事。約拿單告持兵之士曰、汝可相從、耶和華以彼付於以色列族手。

我非利士人、當強我志、自為豪傑、不服役於希百來族、如彼疇昔服役於我、當為豪傑、而與之戰。

強乃志、壯乃心、毋恐懼、毋畏葸、爾之上帝耶和華佑爾、必不遺棄爾。摩西在以色列眾前、召約書亞、告之曰、強乃志、壯乃心、昔耶和華與列祖發誓、以斯土予民、爾必偕行、使彼得之、

撒母耳悉以告、毫無隱諱。以利曰、事由耶和華、願其任意以行。

惟爾強志壯心、守我僕摩西所諭之律法、不偏於左、不偏於右、則不論所往、俾爾納福。
