巴蘭對巴勒說：「你在這裏給我築七座壇，為我預備七隻公牛，七隻公羊。」巴勒照巴蘭的話行了。巴勒和巴蘭在每座壇上獻一隻公牛，一隻公羊。巴蘭對巴勒說：「你站在你的燔祭旁邊，我且往前去，或者耶和華來迎見我。他指示我甚麼，我必告訴你。」於是巴蘭上一淨光的高處。神迎見巴蘭；巴蘭說：「我預備了七座壇，在每座壇上獻了一隻公牛，一隻公羊。」

並不是我們憑自己能承擔甚麼事；我們所能承擔的，乃是出於神。

「我算甚麼，我的民算甚麼，竟能如此樂意奉獻？因為萬物都從你而來，我們把從你而得的獻給你。

「第七日要獻公牛七隻，公羊兩隻，沒有殘疾、一歲的公羊羔十四隻；

在這等人，就作了死的香氣叫他死；在那等人，就作了活的香氣叫他活。這事誰能當得起呢？

然而我蒙神的幫助，直到今日還站得住，對着尊貴、卑賤、老幼作見證；所講的並不外乎眾先知和摩西所說將來必成的事，

這節的七日，每日他要為耶和華預備無殘疾的公牛七隻、公綿羊七隻為燔祭。每日又要預備公山羊一隻為贖罪祭。

撒母耳將一塊石頭立在米斯巴和善的中間，給石頭起名叫以便以謝，說：「到如今耶和華都幫助我們。」

我要用燔祭進你的殿，向你還我的願，就是在急難時我嘴唇所發的、口中所許的。我要把肥牛作燔祭，將公羊的香祭獻給你，又把公牛和山羊獻上。（細拉）

擡耶和華約櫃的人走了六步，大衛就獻牛與肥羊為祭。
