撒母耳曰、是日耶和華裂以色列國、使之離爾、以賜爾鄰、賢於爾者、

今爾不守厥命、爾之國祚不永、耶和華已尋獲一人、遂乎其心、立為其民之長、

耶和華謂撒母耳曰、我既棄掃羅、不使為以色列王、爾為之懷憂、伊於胡底、可盛膏於角而往、我將遣爾詣伯利恆人耶西、其眾子中、我簡其一為王、

昔耶和華藉我所言、今行於爾、奪國於爾手、以畀爾鄰大衛、

詢於耶和華、耶和華不以夢與烏陵先知答之、

耶和華諭以色列人曰、我豈未拯爾於埃及亞摩利亞捫非利士人乎、昔西頓亞瑪力馬雲人虐爾、爾呼籲我、我亦拯爾於其手、爾乃棄我、而事他神、我不復拯爾矣、爾可往籲所簡之神、爾遭難時、任其拯之、以色列人謂耶和華曰、我干罪矣、任爾隨意待我、惟求今日救援、遂去其中異族之神、而事耶和華、耶和華因其困苦、中心愀然、

備戰之士至希伯崙見大衛、欲以掃羅國位歸之、循耶和華言、其數如左、

耶和華曾與大衛誓、我必為大衛成其事、否則願上帝罰我維倍、我必奪國於掃羅家、立大衛之位、治以色列及猶大、自但至別是巴、

又曰、爾子咸在此乎、曰、尚有季者牧羊、撒母耳曰、召之使來、彼未至、我儕不席坐、遂遣人攜之入、其人赤色、目秀貌美、耶和華曰、斯人是也、起而膏之、撒母耳取角中之膏、於其諸兄中膏之、自是以後、耶和華之靈大臨大衛、撒母耳啟行、歸於拉瑪、○

惟其意不如是、其心不思此、乃欲肆行敗壞、翦滅多邦、

以惡報善者、災害不離其家、

人子歟、斯人納其偶像於心、置陷罪之窒礙於前、我豈聽其諮諏乎、爾當告之曰、主耶和華云、以色列家中、凡納其偶像於心、置陷罪之窒礙於前、而詣先知者、我耶和華必循其偶像之眾多而應之、以以色列家之心欲而獲之、因其崇事偶像、而疏遠我、當告以色列家曰、主耶和華云、爾宜轉離爾之偶像、反背可惡之事、

以色列長老、咸至希伯崙見王、大衛王在希伯崙、於耶和華前與之立約、遂膏大衛為以色列王、

夫斧豈對用斧而斫者自伐乎、鋸豈對運鋸者自矜乎、是猶梃運彼舉之者、杖舉夫非木者、
