Psalm 11
Refuge in the Lord
For the choir director. Of David.
How can you say to me,
“Escape to the mountains11:1 Lit your mountain like a bird!11:1 Ps 121:1
2For look, the wicked string bows;
they put their arrows on bowstrings
3When the foundations are destroyed,
what can the righteous do?” 11:3 Ps 82:5
His eyes watch;
his gaze11:4 Lit eyelids examines everyone.11:4 Or examines the descendants of Adam
5The Lord examines the righteous,
but he hates the wicked
and11:5 Or righteous and the wicked, and he hates those who love violence.11:4–5 Ps 33:13–15
6Let him rain burning coals11:6 Sym; MT reads rain snares, fire and sulfur on the wicked;
let a scorching wind be the portion in their cup.11:6 Ezk 38:22
7For the Lord is righteous; he loves righteous deeds.
